Inner boot area welding is finished!! Cut out some rot outside Cut out some rot inside Plug weld outer repair onto lamp bowl and seam around the edge Seam weld inner repair into place and few welds down edge to hold it all together Carefully chopped rot out of bottom bit and weld in new bits to finish it off. Now going to move onto rear 1/4 repair and outer edge of bootlid hole.

Weather was against me a bit today, really missing having somewhere dry to work. Needs the outer edge of the lip replacing from bottom of that repair to top of last repair, that should be quite quick though.

So with the rain coming i thought i should sort out the rest of the holes around the boot in the hope it keeps the water out. Thats along the top edge, theres a missing picture again as i did a repair on the edge where roof and rear quarter meet, which i also need to sort out on other side, but for now i've just run a bead of weld over the hole. now there should be no water running down the rear post and down the lower rear corner of rear quarter i've started to repair it. Its pretty much the same sort of work as other side just smaller panels. the ziebart burns quite well

i was going to say that zeibart didn't do much good....
but on the other hand, that may be the reason why this car hasn't rusted out that bad and been scrapped along with the rest of them!

I think it did well, but anything that had ziebart should go back every year for inspection and reapplication, so most of whats visable is cracked and almost useless. It used to be a franchise (my dad used to deal with one in farnham back in the early 80's) so it was only as good as the franchise owner!!
Inside the rear quarters looks quite good. All of the bits that have rusted are where there is flanges or overlapping panels. The hole in the sill, wherever that picture is shows how thick the ziebart is in some places as the water has sat on top of it and rusted it through away from bottom of panel. Its the same in the rear quarters, hence me chopping the bottom bits off and adding some drain holes.
It will get some bilt hamber cavity wax and some waxoil (got some in stock) and i'll be happy if my repairs last 35 years

I'm currently aiming to have this ready to get high build applied by around about the 20th That will give me 5 weeks to get it ready for the retro rides gathering Time for a "to do" list: By the 20th (ish) rear corner - nearly there rear valance - few plugs welds boot opening - think theres 2 small repairs to do rear arches and repairs to inners - ones on passengers sill - repair to front edge passengers floor - small repair to leading edge front wings - repairs and gapping front panel - repairs to both edges doors and bonnet - few localised repairs (leaving these until last, at least i'll have the main body done and i can whip these off and sort them in the garage) windscreen and roof - not looking forward to these Filler - splodge here and there Then it should be ready for priming flatting and painting. I'm not going for spot on concours here, it will probably end up satin yellow with black stonechip underside. Then a few more jobs: Seats - source and fit Seat belts - need some in the rear Wheels - need to make my mind up im torn between sceney banded steels and some JDM splits i've got my eye on. Trim - Sort it all out clean and refit. Couple of mechanical jobs to do: Water leak - locate and fix Brakes - new discs and pads and a general once over tie rod bushes - fit the new ones Then sort out any issues that arise from MOT. Not much then

should be fine.
i vote for some cool shiney rims, should look great against the slightly ratty look of the body.

By the 20th (ish)
rear corner - nearly there DONE rear valance - few plugs welds boot opening - think theres 2 small repairs to do rear arches and repairs to inners - ones on passengers sill - repair to front edge passengers floor - small repair to leading edge front wings - repairs and gapping front panel - repairs to both edges doors and bonnet - few localised repairs (leaving these until last, at least i'll have the main body done and i can whip these off and sort them in the garage) windscreen and roof - not looking forward to these Filler - splodge here and there Started to get on with passengers rear arch. Finished welding the arch panel(the bit thats not welded, I'm not happy with the shape so needs chopping out and a shaped bit letting in). Then turned my attention to the lower part, somehow i've managed to cut it so bottom edge is 8mm too far to rear so the curve isn't right, as you can see. I haven't got another bit so i'll need to chop it out and add a fillet somewhere!

The mrs has gone away for 5 days with the kids and i'm off work!!! With the weather my work on the wagon is limited but still moving along. In a brief dry spell (after it taking 4 hours to drive to st pancras and back) i managed to massage the wing into a better shape, took a file to the mounting holes and managed to get the door gap almost sorted. Its a bit off at the top but i think i'll run a weld along there and grind it back. With it in a good position i thought i should start getting rid of the rusty bits. Chopped a section out of the poor fitting pattern panel and welded it in Still got another bit to weld in above it but i'm much happier with the fit. I started trying to work out where i need to chop it for the repair to the rear edge but the rain came, so whipped the 2 bolts i left holding front panel on and retired to the garage. Made up first bit using up some of my offcuts here as getting low on un needed shelving

Weather wasn't looking too bad but forecast showed it would be changing later (now) so thought i would leave the windscreen and sort out one of the rear windows instead. Out with the window and cleaned up: Few bits made up and welded in Did another bit further forward and then it started to get cloudy so window went back in just in case. 4 hours in 2 more to go

mrs car is currently out of action so most of my attention has been on that instead. However just got a few pictures sent through They will do for now 7.5 fronts and 8.5 rears should (if i have done the maths right) fit well and leave room for lowering. I dont think they will be the only set of wheels i buy for the car but for now im happy.

I'm pretty sure they are from a primera, pre 2002 ish is mostly 4 stud iirc. they were 15x6 pcd 4x114.3. The guy i bought them off also does some quality banding so i hadn't actually seen the wheels he started off with until they were done
