Hi all, I need to replace the front calipers on my B310 Coupe as one of them has seized, however looking on ebay there is a fair few avaliable and wondered if any other calipers from other Datsun models will fit with ease and maybe even let me use vented disks? (doesnt matter if not), i really just need the cheapest replacement for my stuck stoppers. I was gonna change over to 280ZX struts but i havent really got the funds at the moment....... maybe later!! ;D Can anyone help/advise/supply me with some new stopper please? Cheers, Scott P.S. I posted an wanted ad too......... datsunclubuk.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=buy&action=display&thread=1373

if you can't find any calipers that fit, then you could always just swap out the complete struts? A10, 810, C230, C210 are all possible sources and would give you slightly bigger brakes without the need to mess about swaping over the springs like you'd have to if going to S130 struts. pretty sure both the 810 and C230/C210 struts are shorter then B310 as well.... i really should have written down all the different strut lengths...

So the above is just bolt in, bleed the brakes and go??
Anyone have any of the above going for reasonable monies?? Just want to keep it simple and cheap for now and get it ready for MOT.
Cheers Al :-)

pretty much... i had some issues when i fitted 810 struts to my B210 but i think they'd fit a B310 just fine. here's the issue i had. i just hit it with a grinder ;D

If you are planning on using wide alloys , bear in mind that backspace on the 280zx is lousy. So you will have to use some spacers to stop the inner bead of the wheel fouling the strut. The issue here is that 280zx wheel studs are very short and once you use a spacer no hope of getting a wheel nut on! I would recommend that you replace the wheel studs with longer units when you have hubs/ struts apart during the coil over conversion work...

I have some 15mm bolt on hub centric spacers to use which hopefully will give me enough Clearence from wheel to strut!
I had the same issue on my KE70 Corolla so while that's off the road ill use them on my Datsun :-)

b310 struts, cut down and fitted with MK1 golf inserts, 14inch wheels. this was as high as it could go... only way to raise it higher would have been to change the b310 strut top for a s13 or B210 strut top, as there is around 25mm difference in mounting height.

But then it could be down to untorqued nuts on th spacers? I guess I will never fin out...

I've never heard of that issue before! I know people that run 400+ bhp drift cars and never have that issue so as long as they are done up with correct nuts you shouldn't have a problem.
Saying that they prob have as high a chance as another mechanical part of failing.

And yea if that's as HIGH as it would go its pretty low lol even at that hight it would "top out" occasionally. i would have swapped in some B210 top mounts but i didn't have any spare ones at the time.
