from the side by side pics of the 810 and S12 strut bottoms, it looks like the wheel hub face sits much closer to the strut. i wonder how hard it would be to measure that? S130 hubs also sit closer to the strut then on "normal" legs as well. The s12 struts push the wheels out about 10mm, maybe a bit more. I haven't actually measured it, but i have pictures showing the gap between strut and tyre using an s12 wheel on both types of strut. 810 strut with standard s12 alloy wheel s12 strut with standard s12 alloy wheel Heres the reason the photos are misleading:

I have a set of S12 struts on my C32 (brake upgrade) but there are almost the exact same, Just the bolt holes for the caliper that was different (and hub/disc) only pics i can find really are these, sadly don;t show much and this one shows the + camber As for teh 180B i'm in mist of a redesign as i'm not 100% happy with it. here is the older setup the pics i have of the new setup don;t really show much i'll get some soon.

I had a delivery today!!! Already had the struts apart ready for the sleeves to slide on, got on with it and before i knew what happened Thats pretty much as low as you can go whilst the spring is under a bit of tension to keep MOT man happy. Just to show you this is as far down as the suspension (it would go further with RCA's as damper hadn't bottomed out yet) I would it up as far as my lack of c spanner would allow and it sat like this My other car is going so i should be able to get some proper side on shots as its quite hard to see how its sat from these pictures.

cool. whats the camber angle?
as the springs relocate without any help it doesn't matter if they're free when not under tension.

i've spent most of this evening looking my little magnetic camber bubble and can't find it atm, soon as i do i'll let you know. Visually its hard to tell as my drive ways slopes from left to right anyway!
I'll probably put adjustable top mounts on it as im not 100% happy with the top caps and how they sit on the bearings. Should also give me a bit more travel before the bump stop too.
Best order the top mounts and rca's then.........

i've allways machined the alloy top hat so they fit nicely on the bearings.
i've got a pair of RCAs going spare....

I machined the centre of top hat so that it sat on same area as bearing but i'm thinking i need to machine it out to sit on the main shaft as i think the bearing seal is getting squashed, i'll leave it as is until i get the adjustable top mounts, there is a small lathe in the workshop so its no hassle to sort out anyway.
What length are the RCA's you have?

Nope as stated these are C31's caliper and disk/hub are different and on my 810. My C32 has S12 setup (bolt right on conversion) I have finsihed part of the new build on mine and all painted, will build it up to night. I'm using S13 setu (sort off ) now

So, coming back to the camber issue, i do have more positive camber, but its not down to the angle of stub axle. Here is the original 810 strut: pencil line is center of strut and you should see bolt hole location is central to it Heres the s12 one: Center of strut again marked with pencil, however the bolt hole is 7mm (ish) off centre. So looks like i'll need some adjustable top mounts, i had to take one apart as i had an oil seal left over so got some pictures of the welding Next thing to do is look at the top hats and see what needs to be done to make them fit right, i already know the centers need boring out to 22mm so it slides onto main section of shaft so it doesn't interfere with bearing.

welding looks nice.
and thanks for posting up pics of the offset bolts. makes sence. i'll have a good look over the S130 legs and see if they're a similar story.

Quite pleased with the welding its been a long time since i welded anything over 1mm thick, almost forgot that the welder has 3 more power settings!!
I spent ages measuring angles and standing them up next to each other before i realised the issue then spent another chunk of time working out how best to show/explain it!

the spacers to make everything work are on their way should be here tomorrow, that should sort out the turning and location issues. Then i'll do some pictures of it all working

So spacers arrived and it all works, i'll sort out some pictures of how it all fits together, along with the dimensions needed to get the spacers made etc

Soooo, time for an update. Had some of the wagon apart today to have a play about with some other struts i need to do, time for some pictures Locator (54mm OD, 40mm ID, 12mm thick) Having had a fiddle about with them and try to get them where i want them to sit i'm not left with a huge amount of travel left so they will be getting sectioned down to 370mm for a pair of mk2 golf inserts
