Well i can do an update of sorts. Main issue at the moment is the weather and when im working. I do some repair work, go to work for 3 weeks then come back and getting surface rust coming through primer on the bits i did last time, this is making it quite a long process. So i've started getting some paint on it Conditions are not perfect and neither is the materials im using but its kinda shiny (bit runny too ) currently got a dusty garage with 2 doors a scuttle and a wing in that are drying, which should be gone off by this evening (it is rustoleum!) hopefully i can get a half decent coat on it for now, get it on the road then put it in my dads garage to reprep and sort it out (on the condition i weld his project up.....)

this weather does make hard work of even the simple jobs.
my 280C is outside for it's engine swap and thats taking ages due to me not wanting to get damp...

There is a few runs, should be able to sort them out, mainly caused by me thinning it right down to get it to roller on the other car well and lack of practice. I think if i had it inside it would be done by now, just takes so long to dry out then when it does there is not enough time for paint to dry before next lot of rain.

Not sure how big our garage is but I would spray all the panels together hang them up as if you spray panels separately you might find a slight colour difference. I've almost primerd all the panels then gonna stick them on the car. Then primer the whole car including door shuts. Then more than likely spray the whole car in one go or spray frame first then all the panels together. What yellow paint code is that I'm looking at 411, I like the colour of Wills

I've got a door, a wing and the scuttle panel in there drying and i have to be careful going in and out as it is. They are all getting a quick coat for now to stop the surface rust issues using some paint i had in stock, its a creamy/ivory/off white colour for now. it will probably end up the original (411) yellow but i quite like this colour now its on. Once its on the road i've managed to get my dad to let me use his garage for the final go over. I've sprayed them, the door isn't the best example as i probably should of spent longer with the finer grits on it and the scuttle panel is quite oversprayed due to the grilles. Enough excuses!!! ?!!!

Sooooo
Back off work for a few weeks, so time to get things moving. Although the weather isn't great its not holding me up atm.
Got a passengers side wing from will (after the father in law dented the last one, this is passengers wing no. 4 now!!) Spent most of yesterday getting it to fit well and smoothing it all over ready to paint in a couple of days.
Today i started off with some paint, shortly after i took the picture above of the scuttle i managed to blow a load of dust off the shelves onto it, im not going for gleaming straight bodywork here but it did look awful so that got a flat down and recoat followed by the bonnet. That filled the garage up with wet paint so i moved outside to do some mechanicals.
I fitted the last dust boot on passengers side, replaced the tension rod mount with one that actually has the locating cups on. I wasn't happy with the callipers so took one off popped the pistons out, good clean and relube before putting it back together and everything slides nicely now and the wheel doesn't lock up once pads are refitted. So now apart from bleeding the brakes the passengers side is all done for MOT.
Should get on with the drivers side later on today if the weather holds up
