Progress Been a bit lazy with the pictures so i'll sort them out tomorrow. Finished off welding the drivers seat mounts in and turned my attention to the passengers arch which has been waiting for me for a while. I did this last time i was there: But if you look up through the hole in bottom of rail the rot extended up above the flange . My original plan was to finish that off from the inside but turned out to be easier to chop a section of rail off make up a few templates and weld it all. I also modified the flange to give any water that gets in there an easy way out to stop it happening in the future. Next bits are passengers seat mounts, passengers rear of sill/arch repairs and one last bit of front valance so i can get the front end all back together a bit more permanently. Then a few mechanical bits to sort out and i should be ready for MOT.

About time for another update i think!! I'm down to 2 or 3 little bits of welding to finish off and the weather hasn't been great so started looking into the mechanical bits. Ordered a few parts off Datman: rear brake cylinders front pads grease seal for front hub (missing for no real reason!) I already had a pair of discs i bought off ebay (that actually fit!) and tie rod bushes i got off will last visit. This is then when it all started to go wrong......... Took wheel off to start sorting the brakes out (probably should of done this earlier!) noticed a split in rubber cover for track rod end, checked all the others and they are all knackered too, balljoint covers are non existant, antiroll bar drop link bushes are pretty goosed, brake flexi pipes are all marginal, couple of metal ones are a bit crusty to say the least! Still at least i could start on the brakes surely? Pulled the passengers side hub off to change the disc and back edge has had the granny beaten out of it and actually broken off where the seal should sit (no wonder it was missing) Another call to datman and more parts are being sorted. Not to be put off and with the passengers side up in the air i though i could at least start taking it apart and clean up the joints ready for new grease and covers. Wound the nut off the tie rod and pulled the outer bush off and im pretty sure the cup that holds the bush shouldn't come off with it!?! Might need another call to will to sort this one!

Not a lot of progress to report, ordered a few bits started to get some of the bits sorted, then had to sort the wife out a new car as her old one was kaput and got called back to work. Should be off in a couple of weeks for around 10 days to get some of this lot fitted Some of the bits are already on but i need to be off to sort out most of it!

No i didn't, i had forgotten i had ordered the goodridge bits as they were out of stock and got sent on to me the day after we spoke. So i haven't had a need to offer them up, i'll send them back once im off work next week (forgot about this too) but do you still need the CA18ET dizzy, i can send it over with hoses if so.
I'm currently waiting on the missing clips for the unions and my new brake pipe flarer to turn up, my old one is in the garage somewhere...................

I'll do it in the next day or 2! Time for some progress!! Few bits to bring us up to date, drivers wing and scuttle are in high build awating top coat (not really ready to be doing it but made a nice change for something to be all one colour!) They got taken back to bare metal, filled, zinc primed and high build primer. As im coming towards the end of the welding i've decided to hit one corner at a time and finish it all off before moving around to next bit. So first place was the area that needed most attention, the passengers rear quarter. These are the first bits to get attention Chopped out the rot Repaired (still not entirely got the hang of shrinking!!) Moved onto rear edge of sill The bit that goes to the arch is just tacked on so i can make the inner sill and inner arch repairs and weld them in first so i dont have to get under car to do the welding! Its now raining so im dodging the showers with a bit of card and some scissors so i can get the inner bits made ready to weld in when it stops.

So i finished off the sill repairs (pictures tomorrow!) Then felt quite cold so decided to lock myself away in the garage with a door and a heater. Some of the grot There is a similar rusty patch at other end of door skin but the rest of the frame looks good. I've got a local fabricators doing some L shapes to repair the skins (i could fold this up myself if i could find something long enough to bend it over) so my main focus is on the frame repairs until next week when they get round to doing them. I started off by grinding through outer edge of door along where the skin will be replaced so i could cut out the frame and leave skin behind to work to. Bit of cardboard to get the bends in the right place Transferred to steel, you'll notice the semi circle is missing as first one i tried to do it but i just couldn't make it work right so i've left it out and plan to fit a rubber buffer to make the interior light switch work. Then i clamped it to the table with a bit of 3mm flat along the outermost edge and tapped the inner line down with a smoothed off chisel, to make the recess, offered it back up, few tweaks and tacked it in place. Then cut out the curved edge (as seen in photo above) and made a bit to go in there and welded it all up (picture tomorrow) nearly ready for outer skin!
