So these are demolition derby type cars,, running into each other and winning through attrition ?? I thought you were using the word "bangers" as a English term for race cars/trucks.

It's a lot more then just a DD. there are transpnders fitted to each car, the races are set to 5 mins, who ever does the most laps wins.
A "normal" meet will consist of three heats which will determine your qualifying position. typically having an A and B final. with the A final for the highest qualifiers.
After the final most clubs will then run the DD, with cars getting smashed up, knocked out the track or just blowing up motors. last car running wins.
Most clubs will also run a championship, points awarded relative to your finishing positions and qualifying results.
There's also a lot of special events going on around the country, with separate race track clubs joining up and mixing it up.

These are pictures from a race rather then the DD. as you can see. there's still plenty of crashing going on! Attachments:

Ok yeah, i could definitely get into watching that as at first i thought it was regular track racing and that really bores me ,, even though i'm an older guy. I say watch because as you know, it is expensive hobby even if you have loads of spares and not being intentionally smashed into the wall by some lunatic.

nah not to bad really.
to buy a complete setup brand new with radio gear, battery and charger is gonna cost around £200. the basic car itself is very strong and it's only body shells and some parts that need replacing.
typical costs per meeting. £5 to race, £5 body shell, say another £5 in spares such as wishbones or axle.
then other normal maintenance parts. based on racing once or twice a week.... new motor, £8. replaced about once a month but could last much, much longer. though you could also blow one up a meeting.... batteries are around £10-15 and would last for around 6 months. speed controller replacement, £10, should last 2-3 months. wheels n tyres. fronts last for months and months, but rears say month if your fussy, but could last much longer. £7 pair then other things that can break such as body posts, rear suspension, steering parts etc. say £6 per month...?
some of these parts don't "need" replacing. just depends on how competitive you wanted to be...

got a busy weekend.... up to Chelmsford Essex for a big meet Sat evening for a start. taking this A60 with me. then off to Croydon Sunday for a team meet with a 240Z anyway. as you can see i've been trying out the raw look on my bangers. seeing as how i'm not great at the tidy and airbushed stuff with grafics these seam to suit me.

It's cool to see some more people into RC. I raced Mardave for about 8 years but circuit not oval. Done some 1/18 racing and 1/12 pan cars too, but I am big into collecting the classic Tamiyas now!
