Anyone know when about airbag on driver side became mandatory in Canada ?

Well, I've had a good trawl through the internet and Canada doesn't seem to feature in regards to the installation date. America seems to be around 1997 and India seems to be around 2014. Interesting that the new Datsuns being sold in India don't pass European crash standards but will be fitted with airbags. Hmmmmm.......
