My Old Nissan Cherry 1.3 GS 1986 I've had it for 13 years off the road under a leaky tarp. I start and drive it up and down once every year which has at least kept everything moving. In all that time I have only had to replace a section of fuel pipe and 1 break pipe. I'm Now thinking about getting it back on the road. I think it failed it's MOT due to corrosion 13 years ago when I purchased it for £25 I have at least sprayed the underside and rust areas with oil every 2 years which has slowed the corrosion some, although being In the UK and on the salty wet Cornish coast does not help! It still runs and drives well. The mileage is pretty low 86430 everything still works! I hope this will be of interest to some one to know that another old Datsun/Nissan Cherry Is Still Kicking.

Sounds like a lucky survivor! I suspect it will need a fair bit of work, it'll be something you'll have to do out of sentimental value and accept you're going to be spending more than it may be worth....
Good luck.

Thanks! I will at least need to patch up the sills to pass an MOT. The engine, gearbox and clutch are good so hopefully won't need anything major. The springs and shocks are ok, there are no knocks or rattles when driving up and down off road so the bushings and bearings seem ok.
Hope to restore properly one day as was my first car and have never driven it on the road but for the time being will probably just try and use it as it is for a bit.
