Hello all, this is my 1979 Datsun Skyline. A friend of my Dad's rescued the car from the scrapyard with the intention of putting it on the drag strip. The moment my Dad saw it he wanted it but my Mum said no more cars! To get his way, Dad bought the car as a present for her on 25/8/1995, his trick worked and Mum used the car as a daily driver. Then on New Years day 1997 my Mum fell ill and died. Dad threw himself into restoring the car and having it resprayed the colour it is today. He spent several years enjoying and showing the car until he felt that he could go no further with it, but he didn't want it to leave the family so on 9/1/2006 he gifted the car to me. To date the only modification we have made to the car is swapping out the European standard rear brick lights for a set of era correct hotplate lights we purchased for £600 from Kuala Lumpar. We have replaced both bumpers which are genuine Datsun parts that we sourced from Japan and Kuala Lumpar respectively. All other work has been maintenance related, keeping her road worthy and cosmetic touch ups for showing. This winter my husband and I have fully restored the engine and now we are enjoying driving and showing her. Photos were taken at Japfest Donington back in June this year. Today we were at the Wings and Wheels festival where we had the pleasure of meeting Leigh Marsden and his stunning Violet. Hence me becoming active in this forum.

Now that is a very rare and smart looking car Kay, thank you for telling us of it and welcome to the forum. I presume Wings and Wheels is Bicester Heritage? - sadly I have missed opportunities to get there so far this year. Ed
<<PS>> just spotted the other post about wings and wheels Avely, so not BH.
