Hello motorwise and welcome. If you would like to post some pictures (please....) the try www.imgur.com or your preferred hosting site (e.g. photobucket etc.) I can only recall one yellow A10, with a brown vinyl roof. Is that the one? Let us know how you came by it. I have the same car, albeit 1979 - tax and MOT free on 31st December!

Welcome and well done Motorwise. Your Datsun looks very straight and proper, even with old type number plates. Hope you enjoy your car - if old Nissans are new to you I think you will be surprised at how long lasting and durable they are....errr that is if the paint etc stays on! If I guess right then you are in the trade too - so may we hope that you will become one of our "go to" Datsun experts? Ed

Lovely car and what a nice colour! Just as an indication of prices for future valuations (Myself and Nigel Gates do them ) could you let me know what you paid for it (either here or PM me)? If you'd rather not, I understand. Nice to see the twin headlights rather than the rectagular ones. On the back you have a Nissan badge where mine and other earlier ones had a VIOLET badge. If you'd like to swap it over, I have one somewhere that I can give you. Let me know.
Oh,yes! A rear wiper? I think that's an aftermarket item. I'd like to see how it's fitted....

Leigh (Area rep) Hi Leigh i paid £3000 for it with only minor issues to sort out , tailgate struts missing and no clutch at the moment, it's a hydraulic problem so should be a simple fix, but starts and runs fine, it's had some welding done to it but done to quite a high standard so i'll leave that alone for now, checked it over yesterday for the mot and only minor stuff needed for that (brake hoses perished, exhaust rubbers broken and a couple of lights out) I wouldn't mind the badge if you've got one hanging about .... that's very good of you .... i did wonder why it had nissan and datsun badges but i do remember some cars used to have both or maybe i got that wrong i was an apprentice then rear wiper looks like a trico aftermarket kit ... i'll get some pictures of the motor set up etc for you later Ken

I think you got it at a steal! I paid £2000 about 8 years ago for mine, although it should have easily got £3k. The prices have risen nicely for good condition Datsuns. If you need a valuation, contact me (number at the top). I'll try to locate the badge and get back to you.
The rear SSS badge appears to be in the wrong place?
The clutch slave cylinder might well be the issue if the car has been standing. Mine "repaired" itself after bleeding it and then using it regularly so give that a try first.
The struts may also be an issue due to the brackets that are attached to them, not the car. Let us know if you find a solution as this could help others.
You should enjoy driving this car (once you get used to the dog-leg gearbox ) as the long gearings allow the car to race away before changing up. I always find that 5th gear is a bit of a waste.
You might also want to put some sound insulation under the carpet at the bulkhead as the noise is quite intrusive - a point raised during it's roadtest when it first appeared in the UK.
It has a good MOT history but then again,in latter years, it has only done a few hundred miles each year. Keep us posted.

the slave cylinder was seized solid i've fitted a new one but can't get a decent bleed ... flexi pipe seems ok ... found a master cylinder on e bay so just waiting for that to turn up be nice to give it a proper drive other than bumping and driving ...... tailgate struts have different sized ball joints so i'm having trouble finding replacements .... mate of mine knows of a firm that recon customers own units but unfortunately they're missing ... where should the rear badge live? i suspect the previous owner changed it

Depending on the insurer, some will accept your word. Others will want a written valuation or a form that they supply with some photos.
