yeh i think we all agree that at a given road speed a 4.1 diff will means higher engine revs then a 3.9
the confusion comes from whether a 4.1 diff is lower ratio then a 3.9.
which it is ;D

The terminology works the same as it does for a gearbox. A 'low gear' would mean 1st or 2nd and a 'high gear' would be top (4th or 5th). This terminology is not refering directly to numerical ratio which is where people get confused. A transfer box on a 4x4 is the same. Low ratio is a numerically higher gear reduction and high ratio is a numerically lower one. Confusing huh.
Incidentally, I have a 4.6:1 crownwheel and pinion set for an R160. It's a Nissan Motorsport supplied part but I'll have a look at the part number to see if it gives any clue as to application. That said, there are two different bolt sizes on R160 crownwheel with later ones being larger. I had to drill out the holes in my R160 LSD to fit an Imprezza crownwheel. Annoyingly the 4.6 crownwheel has the small holes so to fit it now, I need to machine up some spacer sleeves.
