Damien, i feel for you, you have had some serious work going on, mine is not as bad but still you feel it and feel like its just not going anywhere or finishing, i was thinking of changing the engine for a bigger one but at this stage forget that. Im gonna get her up and running then maybe later the engine mods. Some wood say nows the time but i just dont have the time or any life left in me. Its a very messy job bodywork, and i really need to find a compressor as it would help so much and i need it for the spraying.

FWIW I like the blue - I remember seeing this car or an identical one in the DOC magazine years back. Whatever you do, go for a genuine Datsun colour!
Keep up the hard work - I look forward to seeing it back on the road.

I agree with Tommy about using an authentic Datsun colour - or at least authentic-ish. I think a yellow could be that very 70's "nappy" colour that looked OK on Datsuns - just about same called Maize yellow by Ford, Positano by Fiat, Bronze by BL. Did you spot Will's suggestion of roofing flashing as sound proofing? Carpets? Have you sourced new moulded set (if so where?) or are you cutting out from flat (good luck with that one). If you are undersealing - if this is waxy (it should be I think) then (I am no expert at paint but ....) it may be best to do top paint 1st, save having to clean so much wax off pre paint.

Well first thanks for the comments, something that I was suppose to be getting ready for winter daily has turned into a full resto lol. Colour wise I just don't know I had a vision of yellow, lowered with black alloys, the other reason was my dads 180b use to be yellow. The carpet I was going to use flat carpet and the old one as the template. For sound proofing I was going to use under lay or dyno mat. I saw on AUS eBay the whole carpet new for 100 AUS. Colour wise please help help help

be nice to do it same colour as your dads old one. was that a proper yellow or the mustard colour?
i wouldn't try to make a carpet set, you'll never get it fitting as good as it should.

What sort of underseal did you use? I always thought that the black rubbery /bitumin type stuff was well out of favour these days (maybe at least up here in the north) as it dries out & rot can creep behind it. Ed

Hi Ed this product is wax oil underseal, I've used this product on two others and find it very protective, what I might do when spraying the car is go over all the underseal with stone chip on the airline to give it double protection. I'm gonna put stone chip on the bottom of the seals before painting

i wouldn't try and paint over underseal it won't last.
any paint on the underside is a good idea, nissan didn't put much paint on under there...
as long as your painting over clean paint it'll be ok. one thing you do need to do thou is keep checking on the underseal every year, as it can lift and allow water/moisture in behind it and encorage rust.
