Al, seeing as you're quite handy, how about fashioning a car out of some thin sheet metal? That way, you'll end up with a fairly straight car after racing? The weight shouldn't be too much of an issue as the plastic ones seem to fly around at a super-speed and with crazy handling. Yours would then be more realistic.... .... and longer lasting.

there are a few guys making alloy shells and they will be doing an all alloy race meeting. to be honest though. tha plastic ones look good painted up and are great fun to watch and drive on track.

never raced the bangers but did do a few nights back when i was at school. back then its was the original mardave ministox or stock cars. the variety that kamtec has brings the realism i always wanted from them as a kid. i will have a go and some steel panels soon, like the idea of remolding an a60 shell to take thin steel panels that will fold up in a realistic way. . . but then i have been meaning to do that for years now but the full size projects keep getting in the way .:-)

I race RC bangers with my son at Basildon (BMBSCC) and Chelmsford (CCORC). Started in 2007. Cheap and Good fun, but can frustrating and surprisingly competitive. Good choice of body shells available including a few Datsuns and Nissans. Laurel, 260c, 240z, 300c estate, Almera, Sunny, Bluebird saloon, hatch and estate are all made by Kamtec. Might see you at some race meetings. I've heard the tea at Basildon is to be avoided!? i think you would race against "Bob" Beswick then? he travels about a lot racing and is pretty good....

I've seen a guy racing called 'Bob' so that must be him. He's a good crasher from what I remember. I've been racing at Basildon since 2007. It's a good place to race with a great atmosphere and nice people. I'm not really interested in the politics side of the racing, just having fun and a good social. We're racing at Chelmsford next week and Burton the week after. Must give HOTs a go again soon. I like a nice big track! How many bangers do you usually get?
