Hi all, Just thought I'd sign up to get advice and maybe buy some bits for my project B310. I'm in the process of fitting an SR20DE from a Spec S S15 to my X reg Sunny. Here's how it started before I pulled the 1500 engine and auto box out. Engine and box out. If anyone's after a good 1500 lump, let me know. Started making the mountings for the subframe... And the engine in place... Then the less interesting and non pictured stuff like clutch pedal, fuel lines etc were sorted and then moved on to the front suspension setup. I fitted S13 coilovers, lower arms, hubs and brakes and there is plenty of lock as standard with the steering box setup. The relay is in the way of the downpipe so that's an issue I need to address. I bought a set of MA61 Celica wheels and had the centre bores machined out to fit the S13 hubs. I'm now stripping the layers of paint from the rims and will be painting them up soon. Rear springs were cut to see how the car will sit, and it will need some spacers to make the fitment better. I'll update this soon but next up is getting room to fit a radiator, fit the fuel pump and engine loom, and get the thing running. I have a bigger axle lined up which should be able to cope with the extra go.

Sweet project mate! Retro drifters are the way forward!! That standard lock looks mad, just imagine what you'd get with modded hubs, knuckles etc!!! Backwards entries on the cards!

What an out rage! What are you doing to this sweat little car, Mr and Mrs Miggins would be flabbergasted at the thought of you turning this sweat innocent shopping car into a screaming tyre smoking hooligan. All said and done it would be more fun to see this car drifting sideways in a car park rather than it parked up with the boot open being loaded up with groceries. Crack on, can't wait to see the finishing result.;-)

....just make sure that the wheels are relatively straight before you tear away from the traffic lights!!! I recall that Triumph Heralds (and ilk) had a similar turn on the wheels and were known for having them ripped off if they weren't straightened before taking off.

In some ways this saddens me that such a nice example is possibly going to be drifted, but then again it'll be awesome if you took it to snetterton or lydden or driftland for some twinning fun with us just don't write it off into the wall

Yeah! A little bit of me agrees but in stock form the New Sunny is a bit bland so why not spice it up a bit.

Don't worry, I'll try and look after it Had great success yesterday with the Sunny. I did some more paint stripping on the wheels and they're now down to metal so they can be sanded in preparation for paint. The main thing was the exhaust though. I had an aftermarket manifold fitted and it fouled the steering relay so I was going to modify a turbo manifold as the collector is miles away from the relay. As luck would have it, I had a stock manifold and downpipe sat around so thought it wouldn't hurt to see how far off that was. Turns out it all fitted straight on with miles of clearance, and the flange ended up in the perfect place for joining to a silencer box, so the rear system should take about 2 days less work to fit. I also started on the fuel system and was going to have the pump and filter in the engine bay but thought it'd be better in the boot so ordered some more 8mm fuel hose, an 8-6mm reducer to match the feed from the tank to the pump and rest of the lines, an 8-12mm tee so I can fit the fuel return into the big hose at the top of the tank and some shiny new hose clamps. Just need to wire in a relay to make sure the pump gets a good feed straight from the battery and trigger it through the ECU. Here's a couple of the front brake setup. It's not finished yet as I still need another of the long straight track rod ends with left hand thread, so if anyone has a spare for sale, please let me know.

Tried to sort the post as a pic was wrong but the edit feature baffled me so here's the last one separately...

your going to have to do something better with the fuel feed. you will get bad fuel stavation with the current setup.
you'll either need a swirl/surge pot fitting somewhere or fit one to the stock tank as well as enlarging the fuel outlet.
or better and simpler setup would be to fit a fuel tank from an injected car.

oh. and you also need to have the injection fuel pump lower then the tank/fuel outlet so it's gravity fed, or use a lift pump.
them high pressure pumps are good at pushing, but not so good at sucking.
another option would be one of them surge pot/fuel pump all in one things. not used one myself but they look a good solution. trying to find a link to one but failing...

Cheers for the advice, I'll see how it goes but the same setup worked fine on my SR20 Mazda B2000.
