my bluebird is leaking fuel when I fill up. I abandoned filling up at about 2/3 tank, stopped leaking when I stopped putting fuel in. seemed to be leaking form neck will be tricky to find exactly but looks rusty in places. is this common, any ideas on repairing them, fibreglass, or is there some magic stuff I can by to seal it. or does anyone know where I can get another filler neck, not many bluebirds in scrap yards near me I don't suppose many thanks chris.

Yes very common. Mud/water gets trapped by the metal filler neck and rusts it out.
Unlikely to find a good used one, so possible the only option is to remove it and get it repaired.

sounds a plan, any good products/ideas I could try and repair it with. rusty metal and fuel could be tricky fix.

if it's holey then take it to someone who can cut the rot out and weld it up properly. Preferably with either a TIG or an oxy acetylene gas welder. Then get it coated, Could get it galvanized I guess? would last then... I guess another option would be to remove the rusty section and replace with fuel filler neck hose. www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorsport/fuel-filler-neck-hose

thanks for that used demon-tweaks and got a hose, slightly too big (45mm was closest) but jubilee clip seems to have taken the slack. Yes it was very rusty, so cut that section out and the hose bridging the gap.

yes I will take some next time I have the wheel off.
Its fixed kind of, I filled right up only to find its leaking out of the fuel cap, yes its topped right up! and on my steepish driveway (pointing up hill) it is full right up and so leaking past the cap. Not sure if filler caps are designed to keep fuel back if its like that. Strange also when I checked level it wasn't right up the neck but later it was, maybe because I released the pressure? bit odd. Need to do a few miles and or point downhill. or should I try another fuel cap.

hope these pics work, replaced rusted section of filler pipe with rubber hose, behind strut. previous owner had replaced smaller breather metal pipe with hose also.
