Well hello folks! Been lurking on here a little while, figured it was about time to share and join in etc. A little while back I picked up a tasty engine. Actually I picked up a whole car and ripped the engine from it. I spent quite a while deciding what car to put this engine in, but I have ended up with this bad boy:- And this is the engine I mentioned, it came from a Lexus LS400 - 4.0L V8:- Insane? Very. Possible? Very. I have spent the last few years tinkering with MR2 Mk2's, and fitting V6 engines, so the V8 'big brother' seemed like a good plan. The Datsun is pretty sound, although it needs some work on the inner front wings and the rear arches. I took a grinder to the rear arches, just so I could get a better idea of what's needed. It was not as bad as I thought. Today I'm hoping to start welding in some metal. I did get in touch with Will Datman, and he had some super panels available but when i looked closely at how much metal I needed, it seemed a crime to either cut the car to use whole panel, or cut the panel just for the bits I wanted. I'm going to have a go at fabricating the bits I need from some good gauge metal, and see where we go from there. I will post up some more pics on my progress later, any tips and advice always welcomed! I'm also in the market for some replacement wheels, but I will stick a wanted thread up for that later. More soon! Chris.

So, Toyota manual gearbox or auto? They are an amazing engine that produced 1000BHP in the factory WITHOUT changing many internals the 1FZUE or whatever. The development of the LS400 is an interesting video.
What rear axle will you use?

Such a nice bloke. So, Toyota manual gearbox or auto? They are an amazing engine that produced 1000BHP in the factory WITHOUT changing many internals the 1FZUE or whatever. I'm planning on using the stock axle for at least proof of concept; it won't be going down the strip or anything initially. There's a ton of room around the axle, I could probably fit one from a truck. C.

I believe the current owner is also putting in an engine conversation to make it a beast
