Having had problems with the distributor fitted to my "510" Datsun L16 engine i was wondering if fitting an electronic distributor would give me a better spark , better fuel consumption ? These distributors are advertised on Ebay at apprximately £60 - £65 each and I guess made in China Any comments would be appreciated as I think the basic idea is to do away with the contact breaker points

I've seen these too. I would like to know of any experiences good or bad.

I had various conversations with an eBay seller of Chinese electronic distributors for our Stanza T11, and they could give no guarantee that the one they specify/identify would actually fit! Better still to retain your distributor and fit a Powerspark electronic ignition kit. powerspark.co.uk/electronic-ignition-kits/4-cylinder/I can highly recommend Powerspark.

I also fitted a powerspark system into one of my Datsuns and can highly recommend, I plan on fitting one into my 510 once at that stage

Yes it will cost double if not more...:-( But the electronic distributors fitted to series II bluebirds were supplied by factory, use bosch components and also a high power coil ( you can buy a new bosch coil that works with the application). This is the customary upgrade done down under for the 4 cyl L series cars and this set up can cope with big power engines too.

What distributor is fitted to yours? Mine is a D414-97 but I can't find a kit to suit it. The dizzy in my A12 is a D411-89. Found a kit for that no probes. That uses the K27. Both dizzy's look identical. Not sure whether to have a punt.
Help!

I have received the k27 electronic kit and went ahead and fitted it to a spare distributor that I have. Problem ! Fitted the base plate holding the electronic device and then attempted to fit the trigger but it fouled on one of the attachment screws!! I contacted Powerspark and sent them pictures of the problem . They replied promptly and said that this was a very early Hitachi distributor but suggested I shave off the trigger to give clearance. I have now gained clearance by taking a “slice” off the offending screw.
The next task is to check the timing so have purchased a decent timing light, much brighter than the old type......the car should be ready for showtime....By the way the car appears in the latest Retro Japanese magazine after they made a photo shoot following our appearance at the the Margate classic car show last year.😇

Problem solved!I don't mind trimming the base plate screw. Hows the performance?
