Does anybody know if this section where the floor joins the inner arch tub is meant to be welded together ... i dont think it is, just seam sealer only ... Thanks

I would expect its a right angle with spot welds, then seam sealered?

Its a biggish gap and the metal looks clean enough, cant really see any signs of rotten weld tbh ...

If it wasn't welded then it probably was never intended to be... it's not the kind of error you get in a Japanese factory. However, I doubt it'd hurt to weld it.
My 1200 pickup had lots of bits not welded but those WERE meant to be...it was a South African built Datsun and thus the build quality was just terrible.
