I want to quieten things down a bit in a B210 coupe we have and have been looking at the extraordinary prices charges for Dynamat and other stuff. To me it seems that a metal-loaded adhesive backed panel that resists water is good for doors, and butyl rubber underlay for floor areas, or perhaps some nitrile foam or similar. New rubbers are in the pipeline as a logical start. Anyone had any experience at doing this without forking out loads of dosh? Not concerned about adding weight.

I use roofing flashing, absolutely transformed the roof of my 620 from a gong sound to a dull thud when you tap it. 10 metre roll 30cm wide costs about 30 quid. You can buy sticky pads on ebay etc but they're pretty expensive for what they are.

I love Wills tip of roofing flashing - top man! I use bits of left over domestic carpet underlay (eg the corrugated stuff) - I know its not ideal as it can hold water etc, but it works well in places like beneath carpets and under the rear seat squab. And it is usually free. And whilst on the subject - to rejuvinate a sagged front seat - an offcut of hessian backed carpet can be fed between the spring base and the foam pad to support the foam pad properly again.

yes but i used the 300mm wide stuff. Probably not worth buying online because you can buy it from local roofing places and save the postage. You could put some underlay type stuff in as well which is good for higher frequency stuff.
