The 120y coupe has "endrust" black bituminous gunk all over the engine bay and I've been trying to remove it with engine degreaser, meths, white spirit etc but it is ridiculously slow going. Nothing gets through it other than rust. Is there anything that will take it off more easily?

it is ridiculously slow going. Nothing gets through it other than rust. Join the club.... mine was the same. Just loads of "elbow grease" and engine degreaser for mine. Oh, and I also used a steamer to get into tricky areas but that was even s l o w e r still. In hours I suppose it took me about 36 (4 days spread over several weeks). Sorry if this depresses you BUT it is worth it in the end as all you'll need to do is a wipeover every few months with a rag soaked in degreaser and then, maybe, another quick polish. Stick with it. No escaping elbow grease I guess. Good winter job.

My KP710 engine bay was completely coated with old Ziebart. I used cheepo £1 tins of aerosol engine degreaser (smells like parrafin). I sprayed the enginebay and kept it wet with the stuff for a few hours then hit it with a pressure washer. It all came off pretty easily.

Here in Holland we have Dasty, degreaser. It is that strong, when I used it on my wheels to clean them, the clear lacquer also went of

Dasty rules! Costs a euro per bottle: just a spray of dasty and a bit of (cold)water and everything is clean again!

Soaking and pressure washer sounds like the plan.
