I wish I could spend more time on my bluebird and finish the conversion...

bout time this has an update... well the laurel has been offroad all this year and sat in my mums garage and i haven't even got around to sorting out anything on the jobs to do list still got gaffa taped rusty bits, still got gaffa taped driveshaft boots, still got the hash up exhaust i made for it still needs handbrake sorting and new turbo fitting as well as a service. so, i've been gradually clearing out all the other stuff i've got piled around it so i can get to it and start sorting it out. first thing i've done, rather then accuttly do any work is to buy some new wheels for it ;D nothing wrong with the old ones, cept i wanted more tyre as the engine will be more powerfull, plus i wanted to lose the spacers and have a larger sidewall. so i've brought a set of 9x15 Rotas. same stlye and still zero offset. fitted 205 55 15's to replace the 195 50 15's i had on the 8's pics don't look much different really, but wider and taller tyre so i'm happy. i'd better start doing some proper work now thou....

thanks. well i've been doing some work on this it's in the garage and i've got it up on axle stands so i can work on it. i've removed the rubbish bodged exhaust as i've got a rather large aftermarket 200sx system to make fit. removed the stock T25 turbo and ive got a GT28R roller bearing turbo to go on, along with braided oil and water hoses. will also have to modify the intake pipework. and i've started on the service work it needs, such as replacing the part siezed handbrake cables, the split driveshaft rubber boots. no pics as phone camera is broke and i've got a very basic phone as i've mentioned elsewhere, the whole underside, although solid, is starting to show some surface rust forming. so whilst i've got it up on stands i'm also going to do some painting under there. i will wire brush off all flakey paint and rusty bits. then i'll paint on a zinc primer before going over the whole lot with chassis black. will be a lot of work but i want to get it all done while the car is in the dry and before i take it back out on the roads.

it's in even more bits now. i've removed the front struts as i'm changing the front springs to 300lb ones. also need to replace both front wheel bearings whilst i'm at it. i brought new bearings ages ago but i can't find em trouble is the garage is a bloody mess with tools and parts from all my cars scattered everywhere, so next job will be to sort all that out and get it back to being tidyish and organised.

cant be as bad as mine at the mo.
300lbs sound hard. I had 250 in my 120Y but went back to 180 i think.

i think they're 250 currently, because of how low it is i need stiff springs to stop it bottoming out. i have rub marks on the front inner wings where the top of the tyres someties hits.
i'll see how they feel once i'm back driving it.

i've swaped over my new front springs. old ones were 250lbs, new ones are 300lbs.
sounds hard but the 250lb ones didn't feel harsh at all and are a bit soft for my ride hight.
i did notice that the dampers weren't that great so i'll be on the look out for some gas ones.

Looks great, not far at all off what I want to do but I'm considering going SR, bad experiences with CA's!

ooh. i should really have updated this thread....
the CA has now been removed as i've got fed up of keep spending money on go faster bits.
i'm also going to remove the 280zx front crossmember and steering rack and swap back in the stock crossmember and power steering box.
i'm picking up the new engine for this at the weekend. so i'll update with pics once i've got it.
should be good, simple, fairly original, but better then stock.

Ooo what you putting in? I don't mind the CA in general, its only an RB with 2 lopped off. But now I've started playing with the SR on our drifter I'm impressed with the SRs design, just seems less fussy so I think SR in a retro Datsun would be cool
