Just wondering if anyone has any info or experience re getting their Datsun/other classic used on TV or in films...and getting paid for it. Is it worth registering with an agency or a waste of time?

Every now and then Will (Datman) puts up a post when he has been contacted by someone needing cars to appear in films etc.
I have registered on 2 sites for a few years and not had a nibble.

I last year had one of my cavaliers used for a music video for Coldplay 'Charlie brown'. Car came back 10 times in better condition after they carried out bodywork before delivering it back.

A mate of mine had his Impala used for a film. He came back with £250. He also came back with paint damage to the boot and bonnet where people had been climbing over the car and also had a hole in the back of one of the seats where a stiletto had been stamped in to it.
Not good.

If your car is in very good condition, avoid such opportunities. I have heard many bad experiences

It varies. I've had good and bad experiences. My old B11 was used in Red Riding but long periods of time engine running on set saw off the cylinder head. I got handsomely paid because I had three cars on the go for the series (even though much was cut) but it really does pay to go with the car and not leave it if you are able to.

Are you signed up to an agency? Is there a fee for joining?

i'd really like to have one or more of my cars on telly and get paid for it to, but there's no way i'd leave any of them alone with the film crew.... any everything i've heard hasn't changed my mind.
i wonder how the blue 120Y estate is doing? i thought that was headed for a TV show?

i have 3 cars used (one day, fields of blood and the key), The person that asked to use them is a friend and big into classics himself so have no issues leaving the car there. I have also stayed on set for one of the productions. The company will insure it for the time at the set, cover costs pay for the usage etc.
