I suppose i should start a thread on this seeing as how i'm collecting the bits together for it. (pictures borrowed from original for sale advert) So ricky bought it to nick the engine and box to stick in his 180b like this: I had a look around the car and thought it was too good to break so made an offer on it. So now i need to sort out an engine, gearbox, radiator, ecu, throttle pedal and cable. The exhaust has seen better days so need to replace that too. Oh and some areas of rust ;D There is another bit on drivers side but that is the worst of it.

So had a late night roadtrip last night to swindon and got myself an ECU and a full 2.5" stainless exhaust system with a 4" tailpipe (i'll probably change this!!!), a roll of fuel pipe turned up so i can make a new feed. Pictures to follow when there is something to show.

I seem to remember Will did put an L18 into one of these, many years ago.
Good to see this early one being saved, can't be many A-reg ones left.

well done!. Yes i put an L18 in , it was shit. I have a new old stock rear box and tail pipe for that, i also have a used front and middle i think if required. Al might have a twincam engine you could put in!

Well im pretty sure the backbox has a hole in it and the front section is chopped in half with front bit in a certain datsun..........
I was toying with the idea of the twincam but someone has offered me a ca18et, mk1 s12 box and pretty much everything i need to get it working and keeping it standard so i can get mucho cheapness on the insurance for now.
Another chap who was about to weigh in a shell has chopped off the rot free rear quarters, which should speed up the welding job!

Ca18et and most of the other bits are here now, just need to go over and collect rear quarters and wait for throttle pedal to drop through the door.

Collection Had a quick look over this wagon and went for a drive in his other one. Back home No time to waste. First area of attack front passengers wing. Most of it looks fine Small hole in front of sill cut out welded and stonechipped (rubbish photo!) Left that to dry and got on with wiring loom soldered the 4 cut wires back together. Then run the loom around engine bay to where it all should be Refitted wing ready to repair (Lights back in now) Welded a new bit into bottom of wing to hold it on, blew a few holes that i chased around for quite some time! Thats been ground down with a quick coat of satin black to blend it in for now. Next thing to attack is rear arches but i need to pay someone a visit for them...........

Done quite well today. Fuel lines are waiting on 2 clips to hold the rear bits in place but they are in and hooked up to tank so I can get engine in and running. Stripped all the nessecary bits off the donor engine ready to build up the Auto engine into a complete manual. Its quite handy having an engine stand and a clear bench to chuck everything on. I continue to be amazed at how well the majority of the underside is holding up 2 small areas where the underseal was a bit flakey, removed it, cleaned it up and applied some underseal. Came across a hole in the seat belt anchorage ( it doesn't have seat belts in rear so good to know its all there if I want them!) Chopped the worst of it out and welded a patch in Car is now sat awaiting some more welder love around the arches, I'm not surprised there is rust around them I couldn't feel the 12mm lip at all with all the mud stuck up there. The passengers side one is the better of the 2 although there seems to be more work around the edge of the arch than the other side.

Dropped the lad off at school and came home to some deliveries. After some time with the spanners (with no instructions i might add!!) i built myself something that resembles an engine crane Ran local nissan parts centre and ordered the spigot bearing to fit the manual gearbox on the auto engine, none in stock so been ordered in for wednesday. With one arch as far as i can go without the rear quarter panels i thought i should make a start on the other side. So remember this: I hoped the welder had wanted to earn a decent amount for the welding hence the size of the repair compared to other side, turns out i was wrong Chop chop chop Its odd because the inner sill is mint, looks like its been caught in time Hunted around trying to find enough metal to sort it out but failed so headed down to the local sheet metal fab place (turns out my parents next door neighbour is the boss) he pointed out a pile i could go through so i found a nice big bit and he refused to take anything for it. RESULT!!!! Then collected the lad and took him to mcdonalds with the money i had for metal. Then made a start on the repairs Then made up a bit for either side but its too dark to see what im doing now. Soon be off to swindon to pick up the rear quarters
