I am going to be doing quite a bit of work on the laurel's suspension soon. Does any one know what size the big nut is that holds the cartridge inside the strut? I want to get the tools ready for when the parts arive.

Because my one of those ^^^^ wasn't big enough i put my strut upside down into vice tighten up jaws onto nut, jack handle over end of stub axle and undo it, they are not that tight.
i'm 90% sure when i measured it up it was 2" not 50 or 51mm!!! i've got a couple sat in garage i can check if you want to be all posh with a massive spanner!!

Will see if one of the old boys at work has a 2" spanner. If not I will have to buy a big adjustable, just don't want to go and eat the nut up with something not quite suited.

The vice method doesn't damage them as at all. i measured my nuts this morning and 2" is right.
