Hi guys, just signed up after I came across an '81 (I think) 280ZX. here are some photos of the car. We got her up on a ramp and found very little rust! The body work looks very good, surface rust i think, but I am no expert. Hopefully I will be able to get it back on the road in no time... Not bad for £550 I think... Let me know what you think and I'm looking forward to being active on this forum! luke ps, sorry about the photo format, I couldn't upload via iPad.

The interior seems in really good condition so not much needed there. I don't know if these we're meant to have back seats, but it doesn't have any, just a couple of storage box type things.
I'm planning on keeping it original, I don't think I need do any more, it looks great as is! When I get it home next month (I work away) I will get it cleaned up and post some more photos.

Datfun... So I'm on to a winner you think? I have tried to do some research on it with limited success. A guy in the local mentioned it to me a week or 2 ago and I said I would be interested in a project again so went to see it yesterday, guy asked £600, I said I will do 5, we met in the middle and were both happy. It has all owners manuals etc which is nice.
Anyone have much experience with this car?

Most of these are two + two seaters and auto boxes. So finding a decent two seater with a manual box for 550 pounds is WIN

nice. as already said, it's a good one, manual and 2 seater plus colour looks good. if it is as good underneath as you say then i think you've done well. good luck with it. prob best to keep it original, but personally i'd lower it and fit some old dishy aftermarket Japanese rims

I think you may be on to something with lowering! If its as good as I think/hope then I will seriously consider that. I like the wheels which are on already, if they blast up good I will probably keep them.
Now to find a good parts supplier.
Out of interest what are these worth in nice condition?

Hi, Luke. It was good to speak to you today. Glad you signed up and, hopefully, you can already see how interested and friendly we can be. Keep posting as we do like to see the transformation from ugly duckling to graceful swan (i.e. given a good wash, spit and polish). It's amazing how a little elbow grease can put a huge grin on your face. I would recommend that you change those tyres though. All the best.

Hi Leigh,
Good talking to you too! Thanks for your help. I'm sure I will get lots of support from you guys and hopefully I will be able to help others in time.
Doesn't look too bad does it! And seems its a little more special than I thought.
