Though I had better start a thread and say hello before starting to post. I used to be a member on DOC and have met will a few times (see if he remembers me) My first Datsun was a 120a F10 coupe which I purchased from a friend after he had spent a small fortune having it re sprayed fitting some minilite rims and generally tarting it up. After I sold this I had the urge to buy another so after some searching I found another f10 with 21,000 miles from new, a set of un marked pardat wheels and a massive folder full of receipts. A price was agreed and off to Southampton to collect ( I lived in Gloucester at the time) When I got to the car I couldn't believe how good it was, the interior was immaculate and although it needed a bit of body work (few bodged repairs on the sills that needed tidying and the usual rusty tailgate) I was extremely pleased with it. Drove it back to my friends house (who is also a Datsun owner and has a f10 with a tuned a15 on T40's) to start its restoration work. First thing I did was drop the fuel tank down as it wa starting to go rusty and gave it a good wire brush and coat of zinc primer then painted it black. Then I set about cleaning up the rust and filling the necessary parts of the tailgate. Once this was done the bodge sill repair jobs were cut out with the view to send the car to a bodyshop, have the sills repaired properly and have the whole thing blown over. Sadly this is where the story comes to a halt, I moved away from the uk and the car got put to one side in my friends garden and forgotten about. I'm currently in two minds weather to look for another Datsun or to spend £500 having this one shipped to me and finding out what sort of state its in (pretty sorry I should imagine) Anyway, sorry to bore you all just thought I would introduce myself with a bit of a story

Can't you get someone to get the car fired up and then come over and take it across on the ferry? How long has it been stood? If it is out of tax/mot then hiring a trailer might be a suggestion.

Bit torn at the minute as I know the f10's are getting more and more rare and with the mileage mine has done it has the potential to be a very nice example (im a mechanic by trade so that side of things is fine its just the body work that would be an issue)
