83 datsun 280c keeps back firing pops then runs fine after (Read 122 times)

sounds like its over fueling  wot type of fuel pump should these run it looks like a square fasset type .it runs points and carb any ideas .

your going to need to be more specific. under what conditions is it running poorly? if it's back firing out the carb then it's under fueling. pops out the exhaust are over fueling.
of course it could also be an ignition problem.

there is a sight glass on the front face of the carb. the fuel level should be visible and be around halfway up it. it's possible the needle valve is stuck open.

there are also a few other things on the carb that can go wrong. there is an exhaust gas recirculation valve that could be stuck. plus there's an extra valve that alters idle and mixture. pretty tricky to check any of them.

pops out the exhaust last time it done this it stoped running we changed coil and points it was fine then out for a drive sunday she judderd loud bang then purrs i think its ignition side of things could be breaking down were is the best place to purchase all ignition parts

if it had a proper Nissan coil, put that back on. unlikely to have gone wrong and better then aftermarket/motor factor ones.

points and condensor, buy Nissan parts, or at least Japanese parts. Datman will have proper parts in stock.
