Taken from Newsday.com (published 9th July '13) New Delhi fashion designer Rebecca Nelson is the kind of customer Nissan Motor Co. aims to attract as it revives the Datsun brand: Someone on a budget looking to buy her first car. Problem is, she’s never heard the name.
“What is Datsun?” said the 26-year-old, who earns about $400 a month and takes the subway to work. “If I’m spending my savings on a car, I’ll opt for a tried-and-tested brand.” Nissan is resurrecting the Datsun marque after killing it in 1981 in favor of the automaker’s namesake brand. Sold mostly in North America and Europe in the past, Datsuns were popular for their fuel economy during the 1970s oil shocks. Chief Executive Officer Carlos Ghosn is counting on updated technology at bargain prices to overcome the lack of brand recognition in emerging markets, where Datsun will be sold.Tut! Tut! The youth of today..........

It actually looks alright. Dare I say better than the micra. There must be a place in the UK market for such a car.

i guess the'll try it out there first and see what demand is like. i just find it pretty sad that the best use Nissan Renault could come up with for the Datsun name is a crap budget car. the old Nissan/Datsuns were better built then the modern Nissan/Renault offerings now. why couldn't they just use Renault as there budget brand?

wow.... now THATS a cheap looking interior... outside doesn't look any worse then any other modern car though... front could look pretty tough if it got some bigger wheels and was lowered a bit. maybe.

Just been asked to go on-air with BBC Radio Norwich to speak about our Datsuns. Of course they mentioned rust but, hopefully, I put them straight on that one. Bit of a giggle.

In some respects it's no bad thing, at best I suppose it may raise awareness of the marque's history in younger people if they Google Datsun and see the cool cars that were made.

I also got a 'phone call from BBC Surrey asking for me to "appear" on their radio but I was on my way to work. They did try you, Al. Did they get you?

dunno, don't care. it's not like i'd buy any brand new car anyways... only thing that'd annoy me is it would ruin my Datsun search's on ebay
