Any move towards traditional family cars, as opposed to the horrible Quashquai, is a positive in my book.
That said, the Tiida looks unbelievably bland, and I doubt it would attract many of the sheep who buy Astras/Focus's without considering any of the options.

You see a few Tilda's around the North (particularly Glasgow) as that is where Arnold Clark seem to be based. Not an exciting car (although I havent driven one) and personally I would plump for a Focus or Astra anyady! Ed

If I had the money to spend on a dull, dull Ashtray or Focus, or even the piffling £9K to spend on a Tiida, I'd give myself a shake for even considering them, then go and spend £3K on something like this to pimp around in... cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=161066178516&clk_rvr_id=504088073901...spend some of what's left on a cruise round the fjords, buy my lass a new ironing board, and keep the rest to invest on improving/upkeeping the cars. Simples.

buy my lass a new ironing board, What's wrong with a second-hand ironing board? After all..... you're "making do" with a second hand car!

Personally, I find Focus's absolutely fantastic to drive, their handling in particular is captivating - I wish I had one (instead of my i30 etc). I think that they are probably the benchmark car in the class. However this shows how things have changed over the years - as indeed the 1st Primera was once the benchmark that the 1st Mondeo had to match up to. Ed

Ed I'm not doubting that the Focus is a quality car. My problem is that it's soul-less and bland compared to almost anything of 20 years or older. Your i30 is no doubt another 'good' car, but there is just a generic mould that these get spat out from (Focus, Astra, i30, Kia C'eed, new Megane, 308 blah blah blah)

Your i30 is no doubt another 'good' car, Now THAT I must take issue with indeed!! But my i30's woes are for another forum and not this one. Save to say I would not dare to keep my i30 beyond its warranty. Ed
