Hi all, I recently purchased the Datsun B110 that was for sale on Retrorides and spotted on here. I've been looking out for a project car for a while, and this was ideal. I flew down to London to view the car first, then had it trailered up to my home in Edinburgh. The car is in really good condition, and has been well looked after by previous owners. I'll try and keep this thread up to date with progress, but I do have a couple of things in mind. - The exhaust is a side exit, which tends to scrape over any bumps because it hangs pretty low. I'll be looking into getting something custom made up to the back of the car again to gain more clearance. Perhaps with an outward rolled tailpipe. - The rear is lowered by 3.5' lowering blocks, which again gives really minimal clearance and a pretty bouncy ride. I'm considering raising the car up a little as the roads around Edinburgh are awful at the moment. - I'm warming to the paint job, but thinking about painting the car. It started off life originally blue, but I'd quite like to go for a Datsun white. - If painting the car, I'd also like to relocate the door mirrors to the front wings. Maybe flared arches too, but these seem pretty hard to find.

New exhaust made up and fitted by Kyle at Chizfab. Anyone Scotland based, I'd highly recommend these guys for fabrication. A new set of bushes for the gear shifter arrived today. Looking at mocking up new some carpet for the inside this weekend.

Couple of updates and photos from Driftland the other weekend. New gear shifter bushes went in recently, which made a world of difference. Also got some new chrome door handles on there because the old ones were painted black. I've been driving this almost every weekend with no issues. Still considering raising the car a little to help the bumps, or looking into ways to make the ride less harsh. Any ideas if a custom leaf spring rather than lowering blocks would make a difference? I've got a new garage lined up for November to keep this in, so will be looking at a repaint and restoration of anything I can over winter.

Depending on how much work you fancy doing and intended use, you could turret the rear end like they do on MK I escorts ( ready made kits available cheap). This will allow you to install conventional coil overs and do away with the leaf spring set up. >>>just a though !
Nice pics BTW

it looks like it has the standard rear springs so the rear ride shouldn't be harsh. maybe it's sat on the bump stops? in which case some aftermarket shortened ones should cure that. as for the front end. the previous owner did say he had 220lb springs fitted. so if they're still under there it's no wonder it's harsh! being that it's only got a light engine, springs at around 150lb would be better suited. if you can, take a photo of the front springs. or just compare them to this picture of his old 220lb springs.

or just run the tyre pressures at 25 psi. light cars don't need modern high tyre pressures
