Just a moan ....... But I'm now seeing what I think all of you Datsun guys saw a while back I'm seeing Nissans (1980-1990) , Bluebirds , sunnys , cherrys , silvias Micras , all be it nice ones , with asking prices of £2K and over , Only about 2 years ago these would have been £500-£1000 None of them are selling quickly at those prices , but is this where it starts ? Shuffles off to look at £500 Almeras and Primeras instead

You may be seeing them at these prices BUT they don't always sell at these prices. They are coming out of the woodwork fairly regularly so wait and you will find just the right one for you. Obviously a low mileage one will attract a premium but some, perhaps uninformed, sellers rack the price up beyond belief. A similar car with more miles will be reasonably priced and unless you intend to do silly miles, the low mileage one is not the better buy, in my view.
If you are eager, my advice is to just wait and search for a few weeks later and it will come up! Good luck.

Some people think that the cars are worth more because they're uncommon but if there is demand for a particular model then a high price can be justified, if someone wants a specific car they'll pay the good price. Fashion also plays a huge part too. The slowdown of depreciation might suggest that the cars have value today - for example you'd expect a well maintained Nissan K10 to be far better than a similarly aged Fiat Uno.

The best B11 Sunnys seem to have levelled out between £900 and £1500 at the moment. I don't think that's unreasonable in today's market, the values may rise further in a few years but it's certainly time to grab them now.
There's a 20,000 mile 1.5 SGL on eBay for £1495 which a lot of people may think a bit rich. I reckon for a car in mint condition and effectively 3 years of use to its name that's alright especially as they are a decently engineered car that with care and good maintenance will give years of use.
Bluebirds ought to be around the same price level depending on spec and perhaps Cherrys a little less but that's just because I can't get excited about the N10 and N12 at all!! K10 Micras are still cheap enough but mint ones are getting more rare I notice.

That B11 Sunny estate with 30k on the clock went for only £1000, and a tidy T72 1.8GS auto is only £495 on an eBay classified ad with a dealer. Seems there are still some good buys around.

I've noticed this with humble K10s. I advertised a 30k 1.0 in good condition for £300 and had a lot of people offering me payment without seeing it. It was a keen price but even so was surprised at the interest. Probably could have gotten more but it went to an enthusiast rather than someone who'll run it into the ground.
