Ricky mentioning surviving 810 saloons in another thread prompted me to dig a few photos for this section. As usual, import figures to follow when I get home. 1978 Datsun 180B 4dr (810) YPK525T by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr My old 180B, with JDM plate for the day from Gary. Earlier incarnation of FFJ in the background. Just checked DVLA and pleasingly YPK525T is still around and on SORN - it came up for sale on eBay sometime last year. I bought it by chance in 1996/97, after I’d gone down to Kent to view a C210 which turned out to be rubbish. Bought the local AutoTrader as I didn’t want to have a wasted journey, this was for sale nearby and it was pretty good so I agreed a price (£675 I think) and it replaced my A10 SSS. I fitted the NOS C230 alloys, missing trims from the bonnet and wing edges and a 5-speed ‘box out of a 910 SSS, but somehow I never really gelled with it and it got sold onto Bob Stevenson’s father a year or so later and was replaced by a C210. Speaking of FFJ: 1979 Datsun 180B (810) by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1979 Datsun 180B auto (810) by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr Gary's fantastic auto. 1979 Datsun 180B Estate (810) c.1996 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1980 Datsun 180B Estate (810) c.1995/96 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr A couple of Will's estates. DRK got stolen :-( 1979 Datsun 180B SSS (810), c.2001 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr I think Jon Rodwell was the last owner of this one? 1980 Datsun 180B SSS (810), Billing JAE 1997 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr Do we know what happened to this one? 1977/78 Datsun 180B SSS (810) by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr Mmmmmm. Datsun Bluebird Estates - compare and contrast by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr Still around I think? 1979 Datsun 180B (810), c.1996 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr Random street spot, from the days when such things were possible. I remember seeing this go through the auctions for something like £35 a while later, didn't bother bidding though...

it is but carries a different chassis code Kind of. It's still an 810 it just has the prefix 'G' to denote a longer wheelbase. Same as GC10, GC110, GN620 and so on. Also, not all the long nose 810's have a staight six. They even came with a 1.8 four pot in them!

JDM models probably end up as 811 or something silly when they have the NAPS anti-pollution thing? No wonder they revised the model codes in the ‘80s, they were making it rather complicated!

Yeah, the introduction of NAPS brought all those '+1' designations. Think it came in about '76. My Cedric has NAPS and it's a 331 on the VIN plate rather than a 330. Nissans chassic code system is nearly logical ...but not quite!

Datsun UK import figures:
180B saloon 20469 180B estate 14692 (11877 WPJ810, remainder WP810 - what did the J signify?) 160B saloon 7206 180B SSS 2602 All models LHD 127 Grand total 45096
Seeing the SSS plate on the coupe on another thread reminds me of another which was registered SSS715R. It was apparently a 1979 model in red and was for sale in Practical Classics, August 1991. The number still lists as being on a 180B SSS according to Cartell, but because DVLA is on its current nightly shutdown I can't see what its current status is.
