Just to pick your brains .....
I recently bought a recon steering rack on Ebay (AMK part TS580) as it was a "bargain" and would be good stock to have when I rejuvenate the suspension on my 910 estate.
However, whilst the rack looked right I wasnt able to compare the racks side buy side as mine was on the car of course, I found that the track rods on the "new" rack were just 12mm diameter, as opposed to my own that are about 14mm. Clearly this would mean that track rod ends (those long ones unique to the 910)would not fit. As far as I am aware there is only 1 type of track rod end listed for the 910 (albeit a left and a right handed one).
So I returned the rack.
I know I know - I should have bought a genuine one - but this rack was going to be much cheaper than new track rods & gaiters etc.
Just intrigued - any ideas what this rack might be for - or if the same 910 rack was used on other cars with smaller diameter track rods?
