Montage of random ones seen on eBay etc over the years, more details to follow. Does anyone recognise any? So far I know of only two that have survived...
B244JCD - 1984 2.0! I probably have another photo of this when it was brand new, it was one of two imported by Nissan UK for Type Approval purposes. The 2.0 4-cyl model was never sold in the UK, though it was elsewhere in Europe. Nissan often sold these rogue models on, this one survived and came up for sale at £500+ in 2004 in Dorset but I think it eventually ended up being banger raced :-( DVLA says nothing on it since 2007.
D951KCL - 1987 2.4SGL. I looked at buying this when it came up for sale down in Essex, for some reason it didn't work out and DVLA says untaxed since 2005.
C600SPA - 1985 2.4SGL. DVLA says utaxed since 2007. Was for sale on eBay in 2006.
E69VBG - 1987 2.4SGX. DVLA says last taxed in 2001 and now has an export marker against it. The photo above is actually from 2003, so it must have been stored off-road for a bit before coming up for sale.
E604EBB - 1988 2.4SGX. Untaxed since 2010. Photo above when for sale in 2007.
E898OEX - 1987 2.4SGX. Another one untaxed since 2010. Photo above from 2009, when it was advertised for £1395 - surprising then that it was only on the road for one more year.
C475BEX - 1986 2.4SGL on SORN until Feb 2013 :-) Photo apparently from 2009.
F161OBJ - 1988 2.4SGX. My list says I saw this in Norfolk in 2001, then it came up for sale in Suffolk 2002. Locally-registered car, so hadn't gone far in its life. DVLA says untaxed since 2003, so doesn't seem like it saw the road for very long after being sold :-(
J507TNB - 1992 2.0 Japanese-spec taxi! First registered here in 2000, bought by Dan Hirst a couple or so years ago and apparently on SORN at the moment. I think it runs on LPG only.
Going down in the world, I bought this tatty example in 2005 for £25! Got it back on the road, used it as my daily for a year, then it got kept for spares until finally going for scrap after Marky came and liberated the last few remaining useful bits off it:
This was the only other 2-litre brought into the country (see also the dark blue B-reg one above). Registered C194OAP, DVLA says last taxed in 1998. I reckon the CA20S that these had would be OK, probably not much slower than L24E.
My dad has had a 1988 Nissan Laurel 2.4E SGX for 22 years. It has spent the past 10+ years laid up in the garage due to a few minor issues. We are hoping to sort these out shortly and get her back on the road depending on cost to do this.
