I'm looking to fit coilovers on my T72 Bluebird pretty soon as I'll be ordering some new rims for her and need to get her sitting nice and low. Anyone know what will fit? I see that S13 coilovers fit the 910 with some work so can I assume that they shouldn't be too far off fitting the T72?

the T72 is nothing like a 910? for a start ones FWD and the other is RWD....
anything could be adapted to fit if if you know what your doing. on my N13 sunny, which is possibly more like your bluey, i was going to adapt some aftermarket golf coilovers, but in the end i just used coil over sleaves and springs on the stock struts. had to mess around getting the spring top plates to work, but you have to expect some skilled fabrication work when working on cars like ours that don't have a large range of aftermarket parts available.
FWIW, fitting S13 struts to a 910 would involve swaping around stub axle etc. just because someone has done something, it doesn't mean it's easy or as simple as it sounds....

Ok, well this is my first venture into retro Nissan's hence why I'm asking. I just thought that the 910 might possibly be similar as it's the model before isn't it? I was aware it was more than just simply bolting them in and I'm not fussed with having to do some work to get stuff to fit. I've seen you say a few times that my ideas will involve lots of custom work and man hours so just to let you know, I'm a mechanic by trade from a family of mechanics so more that capable it those terms. Have built more than a few cars where a lot of custom fabrication has been required from engine to bodywork. That's not meant to be rude, just more so your aware that anything needing custom fabrication isn't going to be an issue. With that out of the way, I'm just looking to see what will be the 'best' fit, using the term 'best' loosely, I want to know what expirence people have had and what people have used to get a general idea of what's the best route to go down.

it's very hard to judge anyone from just a few lines written on a forum or anywhere else. it's also easy to take things the wrong way and read into what others write. so apologies if i come across in any way other then trying to be helpful. it often seams that people buy cars with big ideas about modifying them with little to no knowledge about how to go about it. but because they've read about it or seen pictures they assume it's easy. with that out the way.... can i ask just how much you want to lower it by? i, personally haven't seen what the suspension on a T72 looks like, but i'd be looking at modifying the stock parts. FWIW this is my sunny with stock struts fitted with coilover parts.

That's cool Al and thanks for saying. Sorry if I came across a bit funny, I appreciate what you mean with people seeing stuff and thinking it's easy to do. Glad the air is cleared tho Here's a little taster for you of my last build, a 2.5l 24v N/A R33 Skyline which I custom throttle bodied. youtu.be/C-tLWkc8r2kThere was a huge amount of custom work done and quite a full on car! Sounded awesome! To date it's the the only one ever built in the uk, sadly I had to sell it on and i recently found out it's had a gtst engine fitted. Hopefully somewhere, someone is enjoying the engine I built tho. Anyone, back on top, the sunny looks really good! I'm not 100% sure how low I want to go, pretty low I guess and will be sitting on 9j 15's. I need to look at the suspension to give me a visual idea of what is similar, will do this at the weekend while I'm fitting the new front drop links. What exactly did you do mod wise to the standard suspension and how much drop did you achieve? How much drop do you think is possible depending on how much modding is done? Quite interested in that route

you should be able to drop 50mm in the suspension before you need to shorten the struts themselves.
my cars sits a little lower now it's settled.
i'm not sure i have any pics. but it's basically stock strut legs with threaded coil over sleeves sat on top of the stock lower spring mount. i obviously had to alter the spring top mount to locate the smaller diameter coil over springs. on full drop, ie when the car is jacked up, the spring dislocates, but because of they way i put it together, the springs goes straight back into place when the suspension is compressed again. the upper spring mount drops with the spring, but as the hole in it is same size as the damper rod it will not just flop about.
another option is to limit the amount the suspension drops. how thats done is obviously dependent on the suspension design.
