thanks to Al I was forwarded the details to this unfortunate chap who ended up in a nursing home after having his house burgled 4 times and ill health
Jerry was very helpful too
story is long but to cut it short he had exhausted a few notifications to remove his car from a council garage with which he understandably got into arrears with the rent payments
i managed to ring him via the nursing home who were not very helpful so had to play it very carefully
he had the council housing dept ladies number and after ringing her and getting round her confidentiality and right to divulge issues it became apparent that he had till this friday to remove the car or risk have it removed and then stored at a compound or crushed and then the charges be levied back to him etc
i could only go at weekend due to work but the council caretaker didnt work weekends to give access to garage!
so this had to be gotten blind
car was a one owner before this chap and has been stood up since 1997 and he didnt know model!
doors were locked and tyres were flat so was gonna be a mission taking out
this old fella didnt have any keys or v5 either ! (due to burglary)
so my dilemma was to get this saved and away from council
i made an offer which he thankfully accepted
so i had to get my recovery contacts to go with some money and 'sale of car' form and get 'signed authority to gain access and remove car from garage' forms signed from the chap then meet council lady and caretaker at garage before 3.30pm!
to complicate matters the nursing home admin staff would not act as witnesses to this signature so i had to convince the recovery driver to do it!
and to top it all off the nursing home was 25miles away from the garage!
anyway the car has been saved and was dropped off my driveway last night
no keys and no v5
but saveable
got a buyer interested and deposit taken and hopefully it will be picked up saturday!!
another datsun saved!
new owner will be on here soon etc

thankyou.
and well done for saving it. it's a shame there was no family members around who could have assisted.i hope the others on here will see why it was not so straightforward and needed dealing with quickly and simply, without causing much more stress to the owner.
at least it's got a chance now.

Thanks for the reg Shahtz! My V-reg SSS was quite late for a round headlight model, this is mega-late. Number isn't far off this 330: 1980 Datsun 280C (330) by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr Usually the only people who can get on a car this quickly and get it moved are the banger racers. Fantastic that it's managed to avoid being exported too.

Shahtz............. well done.
To be fair I am impressed you made such great progress, I had a nightmare with the nursing home who wouldn't let me speak to him, apparently he was unwell.
Glad its saved.
its not all about money, and I know how hard and at expense you got this car saved, dont think anyone from a further a field would have had as much success.
hope to look out for it on the forum.
regards
Jerry
