Had two of these. First was a Y30 300c which had seen better days. My first car in the UK. Solid, but think it had taken a knock at some point as the handling was never right despite suspension/steering looking OK. Next one was a Y30 Gloria hard top import, formely a VG20 then a VG30 swapped into it. Beautiful cruiser. We could have all four windows down at 60mph and still have a conversation. Really liked that car but too much tin worm and bodged earlier repairs and an insatiable penchant for petrol meant she had to go (saw it recently on ebay looking a lot sadder than when I had her). That, and the missus discovered 120y coupes...

The 300C... I have PLENTY to say about these cars.... We have had once since new and that was from 1987 on a D plate...
As far as i can comment on these cars, with a galvanised body, assembled in Germany, these were the Y30 VG30E SGL Models, ours is rust free and its still going strong.
I have had 4 in total so a good story to follow with pix too...

BTW B210 BANDIT, That was a nice looking 300C u had and i know what u meant by having the windows down and cruise at 60mph and still hold a conversation with ur passengers. These cars being extremely comfy with the velour interior, the noise level is extremely low. Saddend to hear your's had to go...

Pretty sure all Y30s were fully built in Japan . They can rust as I found out.
The Gloria was pillarless i.e. no b pillar, so diff body from the Y30s sold new in the UK. No more 4 door pillarless of any sort in Japan after about 1990. Failed safety regs I guess.

Thats what i thought too but has been confirmed that the Y30 300c 1987 models were assembled in germany and had a galvanised body. I was surprised when i found this out.
The gloria shared the same body as the 300c or vice versa. The Y30 has been known as the Y30 Cedric, Y30 gloria and just as the Y30 300c VG30E.
I have a booklet on the Y30 shape that confirms all the above, i purchased this book from ebay about 7/8 years ago and the spec some of these models had were unbelieveable. i will try and get some of the pix scanned and get them posted here for all to see.

Yes, you could get Cedrics or Glorias as standard four door or pillarless; different front/rear treatment on the pillarless, diff rear window (great wrap around), doors etc. If memory serves correctly the top the line Gloria Y30 came with a VG30 turbo and an early sat nav, adjustable suspension etc. Quite the thing for the successful photocopier salesman in 1983.

UK press photo. I think this saloon came over early for Type Approval purposes, when perhaps the final specification hadn't been decided, hence the wheel covers on steels rather than the (not very attractive) alloys we actually got on the 4dr: 1984/85 Nissan 300C (Y30) press photo by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr
