Yes we have them but 2 doors are pretty rare , not sure why. You see 4 door hatchbacks or 4 door sedans mostly.. Even those have become pretty rare sights any more.

Sadly "Written off" is beyond economic repair. It was a saloon model, but the force of the impact twisted the chassis. The boot was level with the rear seats. That was about 1987. Corrosion was a real issue- but that was also true of European models - with the body's rotting long before the mechanicals let go. Oh i see, it was a long time ago, it`s just the wound that`s still fresh.. I remember back in the olden days ,, photos cost money so i seldom took pictures of my cars..

Hmm i wonder why ,, I may be mistaken but i noticed your A10s seem to be powered by 1600s ? Ours 78-79s were powered by L20bs then 80-81s are powered by Napz20 engines.. I know a few guys over here that would cut off a testicle to have the small front bumpers you lucky bastards got..

We got L16 engines with single or twin carb's (latter on the SSS coupe only). We also got the OHV A14 in some saloons.
If we'd have got anything bigger then 1.6 then I think it would have caused too big an overlap with the 810 model above it in the range (which we got with L16/L18, not L24 like North America).

Boy that would really change the feel of an 810 having such a little motor in them,, the smoothness of those sixes is pretty impressive, and the sound they make is beautiful . We just changed out the 2400 for a 2800 out of a 83 280zx in my buddies 83 Maxima (810) for little bit more cruising power... He lives up where they emission test so it is completely stock. We went out to the coast last weekend and saw this in the pile of grills,, for $15. dollars. and since this is a spec type thread,, i'm going to show off my sons service manual we picked up at a thrift store foe like $4. dollars

The 160J/SSS were 81/87 bhp and this compared favourably to the Ford Pinto 1600 (which was fitted to most mid range Fords) at a mere 72 bhp.

I think it'd be difficult to accurately compare, power outputs weren't measured very consistently back then plus American stuff of that era was strangled with fairly crude anti-smog equipment.

The books say 112 hp@ 5600 rpm Torque 108 @ 3200 but that is probably at the crankshaft ,, we didn`t get the side draftcarbs on any car after very early 70s.. Most of the emission control stuff came about because of California,, but if you had ever visited LA/ Hollywood you would have agreed something had to be done.. There (and still is really )) a haze in the air that smelled like burning tires or plastic in the distance,, all day everyday pretty nasty... Most of the emission controls consist of re-burning exhaust gases ( by routing them back into intake) and pumping air into the exhaust manifold to burn off the un-burnt petrol Most American pushrod engine cars were really choked down to the point of barely working but the Japanese imports weren't as much... Don`t get me wrong they were loaded down with emission stuff ,, just not as heavy handed-ly. probably because of the more efficient design to start with

So i wrote that A10s are kinda plentiful where i live and to show ,,or make you guys hate all Americans (if you don't already) ,, here is a few that are in junkyards all within 100 miles or less from me. link row52.com/Search?Year=1978-1981&ZipCode=98512&Distance=250&MakeId=113&ModelId=1575&LocationId=&Page=1These are the cars that link takes you to so as to keep them for prosterity as cars are only usually kept in Pick-n-pulls about 2 months before being crushed. These are just the pick-n-pull chain not the family owned yards which keep the cars a little longer.

Yes we scooted down there a week or so ago,, the other side looks just as straight with no real rust holes anywhere. Interior was pretty rough previous owner probably got $150. dollars for it to be hauled away. (sadface)

A couple advertisements Not sure what year this A10 is, but it ran a L28 with triple Webers. Labeled as this from where i borrowed it from Johnny Knez / Ken Critchfield with the M/C Datsun 1800J SSS at the 1981 Castrol 3 Hour at Killarney.
