Here is a step by step guide to the often asked question of the c32 laurel coilover swap. hope it helps some one.
PARTS NEEDED.
c32 laurel
S13 200sx coilovers,
s13 steering tie rods and track rod ends,
s13 calipers,
s13 discs,
s13 hub/ steering knuckles with hubs,
s13 discs and pads.
BEFORE STARTING COAT EVERY RELEVENT BOLT IN WD40 FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS, MAKES EVERYTHING SO MUCH EASIER.
FRONTS.
jack car, stands, wheels off,
remove the track rod end
these are normally rusty and its not worth trying to save them or the split pins as they are all going to the scrap bin.
remove the calipers from the hub unit, but save the two caliper bolts as you need these later
dont remove the caliper hydraulics yet, just move it out the way.
next you have to remove the strut to hub bolts.
these can be a pig especially the front one.
once thes are off you have to lever the strut from its lower bit(dont know what its called)
this can be tricky but just get a big lever and youll be fine.
now undo the three top mount bolts and remove the strut
you`ll then be left with this,
you need to take the split pin out and remove the nut. again tricky cos it spins but i found if you rotate it like this it locks up and you can crack the nut off,
when this is off you are ready to put the S13 hub knuckle unit on.
you DONT need the S13 lower arm, its exactly the same as the laurel one..
so S13 hub unit on, new split pin and tea all round.
you can now bolt the coilover on, two bolts at the bottom three at the top.
now the discs can go on, then chase the three year old son round the garden cos hes nicked the afore mentioned caliper bolts.
next romve the steering rack gaiter and then the tie rod/trac rod end complete.
you`ll need tp split the tie rod-track rod end as you need the gaiter.
split the S13 tie rod-trac rod and put the laurel gaiter on to it.then re fit together and fit to the laurel rack.
i got the wheels as straight as i could by eye with the steering wheel straight the adjusted the track rods ends so the go in to the steering knuckles, theres plenty of thread left both ways so it should track up fine.
repeat for the other side
the rears are a doddle and dont need as much explination.
remove the rear struts. one bolt at the bottom and three at the top.
the s13 struts have a longer bush housing at the bottom so they have to be cut doen a bit as in photo.
the tops of the laurel strut is three bolt where as the S13 strut is 2 bolt.
what you need to do is put some tipex or gloopy paint on the bolts and hold it up so it leaves marks then you can use these to drill holes.
mine needed 20 seconds of filing to make good but then its just bolt in job.
just a hint, put your coilovers to the highest setting and adjust later. so much easier that not being able to get the jack out when youdrop it down.
hope this helps some one.
