Hi - I need your help please. My Bluebird 910 estate now needs some attention to flaking paint. An area that perplexes me is the rear tailgate, where a blister has crept under the window rubber. I have removed the side finishers from the tailgate, (hence the hole in the photo)- these incorporate the chrome finish trim that fits into the window rubber @ the sides. However I dont know how to remove the chrome finish trim to the lower edge of the tailgate window, ie shown above the wiper in the photo. I dont want to pull at it in case I bend it of course, & I need the trim off so that I can lift the rubber window seal to address the grot. Can anyone advise me please? Many thanks in anticipation...... Ed

the bit in/on the rubber? one thing i'd advise is do it when the rubber is warm. so maybe leave it in the sun or even get a hot air gun on it if you're careful?

Yes Alan - the chrome strip in /on the rubber. Seems tucked in along 1 edge. Thanks Ed

Hi, Ed. My old 260Z project had this type of chrome/S.Steel fitting sitting in the rubber. It is fairly thin, so be careful. Although I didn't remove it, it came with the spare rubber. Perhaps if you look at the 240/260Z forums, someone can help...?

Sorted, well at least on its way. The chrome trim actually hooks around and under the rubber very convincingly along the edge next to the glass (ie so about a "J" in section), and was an absolute xod to get off. I used a combination of a long very fine screwdriver and in particular an old credit card, aided with some hot water. The good news is the chrome trim is undamaged /unkinked, and I can now lift the rubber so as to attack the grot underneath it. The bad news is that I ended up nibbling a short section of the rubber which ripped when I pulled at the chrome trim, and I cannot for the life of me work out how the chrome trim will go back in! I think I will need to make friends with a windscreen fitter or local bodyshop. Ed

I used my flick knife, a screwdriver and lots of swearing... Think the side ones were more difficult on ours, basically moulding onto the seal
