hi I'm wanting to add two seat belts to the rear seat of my c230. is it ok to do this myself using new belts of course or is it expected that a garage should install? If ok to install myself anybody else done this and if so what anchor points did you use? thanks Dave

Pull out the rear seat and have a look what fixings are already there. lower section comes out first, two 10mm headed bolts below the seat, comes out easy. then remove the upper part. again, two bolts below the padded part at each end, then push the seat upwards. might also need to remove the rear shelf and C piller trims once the seat is out.

I have just recently installed new belts in the rear of my Laurel and its as Al says for removing the seats. You should find 4 threaded holes close to each other on the floor, they may have plastic caps in them, 2 of these are for the female anchor points of the outer belts, 1 is for the female anchor point for the centre lap belt and 1 is for the centre lap belt itself, you should also have on the outer section of the floor beside the wheel tubs 2 anchor points that should have bolts in them although no big deal if they have not, these are for the bottom section of your main belt, then as Al says you should have a threaded anchor point behind the C pillar trim for the top part of your belt, you may have to drill a hole through this trim for you belt anchor point bolt to go through. You should be able to install 3 belts on the rear, 2 outers and a centre lap belt. A word of caution, I bought 2 outer auto reel belts that are listed for my Laurel but when you go to install this section to the C pillar it suddenly becomes massive and is rather dominant, so maybe static belts would be better there, you dont have the luxury of the auto reel but the static is much slimmer and less obvious. You are fine to fit these yourself. www.securon.co.uk/applications/app_list/ntos/seat_belts_nissan.htm

Now then, my Securon belts came earlier this week and this evening I managed to find the time to install them. It couldnt be simpler!! Remove the rear seat, Locate the mounting holes (I had to remove the rubber bungs) I then ran a tap down the holes after oiling them up, I believe it was 7/16. I was getting so stroppy with it finding the right one I stopped looking at what they were!

The finished product. The reels and mounting points on my 910 put the belts at the angle you see here, any more vertical/higher and it wouldnt retract properly. Luckily for me the rears will only be used by my kids anyway. Should I need them any higher I will have to mount them on the back upright rather than the pillar using the nuts that are supplied with the kit. But that said I have tried these (5'9 + 48" chest) and its not uncomfortable. Anyway, hope this helps. Id definitely recommend the securon belts. Do shop around for the right price tho! Oh, also make sure you read the instructions on getting the pendulum the right way up so they retract properly Attachments:

I fitted them to my C230 a few years ago. For Laurel Securon list an auto retracting belt that fixes at 3 points - reel, buckle and bottom mount. This means that the reel sits on the inside face of the C-pillar and I've had to lose the padded insert and light that's fitted to the moulding there. Some photos would show this better, I'll try and get some.
Once I got the seat off I could see there was a fixing point lower down from the C-pillar, kind of hidden by the rear seat back. In hindsight I think I should have got the type that has a harness as a 4th fixing point - that could have been installed on the pillar above the seat and the reel hidden lower down.
The reels have an adjuster on the back that you turn to suit the angle of fitment. If you bought them off another car they might not have this.
If you PM me your email address I'll try and get you some photos.
Edit: My local motor factors got them considerably cheaper than Securon list on their website.
