The following info are extracts from the recent editions of Classic car Weekly (9th July 2014) and Practical Classics (August 2014);Practical Classics: "If you've got a date dispute with DVLA over you classic - say, if you are seeking Tax or MOT exemption for a classic registered in the calender year after its manufacture - you may no longer be able to call on your club or it's marque experts to provide evidence. As of June 5th, the DVLA now only accepts extracts certified as taken directly from the original factory records or from the Glass's Check Books"I'm not sure where this leaves us as a Club with our own archivists (Nigel - spotted Laurel; Mark - Mash) Classic car Weekly: "The Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs (FBHVC) is in discussions with the Department of Transport about how to implement the European Roadworthiness Directive, which will exempt all pre-1984 cars (from the MOT) in 2017. One of the biggest sticking points is that the EU directive requires that vehicles exempt from MOT have to be substantially unchanged; but nobody has come up with a firm agreement as to what that actually means."One way out of this is........ vote UKIP and get us out!

All bloody cars should go through an mot. I know we all love and look after our old tin but how many people actually get their car on a lift once a year and give the guts a good looking at? Rust is an inventive creature....

My boss at work has a number of pre-1960 cars which I think are now exempt from MoT testing, but he still gets them tested.
Glass's Car Check books aren't accurate for our cars, I've checked some models and the dates given don't tally with Nissan parts books/fiches.
