very new to forums so finding my way around. i have owned a red 74 e10 estate for about the last 16 years..currently in the garage laid up (where its been for many years ) whilst i decide which way to go with it. (modify or restore to original )..but it will never be for sale. ive owned dozens and dozens of datsuns and nissans over the last 30 years and classic and retro cars are my passion and part of my business. I have just bought a 1200 b110 2dr saloon to use for a while.... its come in from portugal and im just trying to verify build date. I dont know how accurate it can be read but wondered if you have any records or can decipher from the chassis number the approximate day month and year of build so that i can get the details correct when registering with dvla as the seller wasnt sure when i bought it. . It has been "NOVA" registered but they wouldnt give me the date as i wasnt the person who applied for this. I would be quite happy to pay any administration costs to the club if you could help me with this matter. I just cant wait to get it on the road and start enjoying it.. Many Thanks for your time, Lee. chassis no. L B110 361717 Read more: datsunclubuk.proboards.com/conversation/5888#ixzz4LfawOyUB

Hello, Lee. Try a PM to spotted laurel Nigel Gates (Historian & Archivist). He can be tricky to contact as he's a very busy man. Any problems, give me a call.

I contacted Nissan who wanted £29.37 to date mine (Japanese import) but I never got around to paying them though. Wonder if Nigel can help me too.

Armed with that, it may be possible to track down more information by getting some support from fellow enthusiasts in portugal. We have a few members on here too..

Lee, I need to suss out how B110 chassis numbers work. Your car predates my 2dr by some margin (which is 494xxx) and I/my predecessor have done build date certificates for a number of others so that should help narrow it down. I'm going to have to get the microfiche out though to check something....
I'll send you a PM with some other info that would be of assistance.
The above being said, DVLA might not accept anything from us. When they worked through local offices it seemed to be OK, but since they've centralised then some certificates haven't been accepted.
