Opinions sought for my Bluebird, as I have already said in other threads, I am the proud new owner of a low mileage '89 bluebird premium saloon, which is near immaculate other than minor accident damage. My dilemma involves the paint scheme, as being a premium in Diamond white, it has the bottom half of the doors/fronts wings in dark grey decals. However, these are starting to look tatty, especially on the door edges from being opened onto things (luckily the paint underneath has escaped with only minor chips) as well as wear from road grime etc. Plus the decal on the drivers front wing will need to be removed anyway to tackle a small area of corrosion around the mudflap area (about the only rust on the car).
So basically, during the restoration all the lower body decals will be removed, but my dilemma is do I leave them off, so the car is all white for a 'cleaner' look? or as the car is so original do I get new ones made up, which I could easily have done by a local van signwriter? And do I replace them with new vinyl, which will probably start to fade and look tatty again after a few years of washing/polishing etc, or do I get them painted on for durability? ( the paint/bodywork guy doing the rest of the repairs will be able to do an excellent job which will probably look identical to the original vinyl)
Opinions please, as I can't make my mind up

I am all for originality although I have replacement period alloys and some "Fun" stickers applied. Out of the two "decal" options, I would go for vinyl replacements; they can be made to order and when they wear out, in many years to come, you can replace them.

Pictures of decal you have now would help me make my mind up easier whether to leave it off or not,, but i would go "stick on" rather than painted.. If that's what you're asking
