Discovery Channel Monday 18th June has a 1972 Datsun 510 2-door being restored to superb condition. Worth a look or just set the record feature?

I've got a copy on the iPad ready to watch. Not had time to do it yet, the Americans didn't seem to impressed from what I've read on their forums.

....and yet the 510 has a big following in the States? From what I've read,Ant and Mike loved the way it handled. Can't wait to see the show. Already set up to record.

The guy who sold it to them was is know but they didn't show enough of him. I think it's more Mike they don't like, and never got over Edd leaving and take it out on Ant. The car is now up for sale too, looks good apart from the rear lights. I'll try watch the show soon.

Now I've seen it I'm somewhat disappointed! Apart from some "minor" body/electrical repairs, 5-speed gearbox swap, interior trim and some paint it didn't show any other issues that I'm sure there would've been. They seem to focus on the issues that make the car look good rather than the mechanicals. This seems to be the case for all of their restorations in general. Ah well, I suppose they only have 45 minutes of airtime to present a start-to-end resto so we can't expect much. Makes a nice change from the popular 240Z.

I've watched it too. Also disappointed. They could have gone into a lot more detail with the restoration. Shame but I guess they need it to appeal to more than us car geeks.
