Good evening , I have a Nissan (92) vanette c220 with a 1.5 A15s engine and hitachi 306 dcz carb. I've spent 4 years after retirement for ill health enjoying the refurb of my camper - mostly I bought it because it was cheap and on a neighbours drive but 4 years off and on fighting to find parts I have to say it's better than my German family car and great fun for DIY I was just seeing a glimmer of sunlight, that was until I checked the rubber boots / bushes on what nissan call the centre relay assembly but everyone else calls the centre or cross drag rod.
My problem is that A I can't get a new one and B the rubber boots on the stud ball joints are very odd indeed, they appear to be part boot and part bushe.
I've spoken to nissan uk , and Japan - no go on the rod or the rubbers I've been on genuinenissan but no luck I have been to almost all motor and classic bespoke bods I can find and lastly I bought a whole donor but sadly the rubbers are toast there too......... nightmare as I have dropped rather a lot of cash into it.
I apologise but i read the outline of the club and it mentioned commercial and also compatibility - I'll be honest I was hoping somebody might have an idea - I have even been quoted 2k to make a mold and manufacture - can't do that! When degreased they had number A 45 42977 stamped into the side but this gets nothing on google.
I have no idea if anyone can help but hey if you have ever seen or got a part number for these I would be grateful. apologies for selfish 1st post.

Good morning Mike, and welcome to this forum. Apologies that I am a bit non tech - I presume /guess that the part you need is a steering link? Have you spotted the part in parts catalogue eg nissan-europe.epc-data.com/vanette/ which should reveal a Nissan part code and can set you off on a fresh Google-hunt? We don't know where you are, but presume that you have tried Will aka Datman, he has a wealth of knowledge as well as stock. If all else fails, and I am correct about this being a steering link, maybe a race/ motorsport parts supplier will have or make a bespoke rose jointed link - but that is a world I have yet to need to explore for myself and my 910 estate. Good luck with your hunt and please let us know where you are and how you get on. Ed

Hi, Mike. Have a look at the sticky threads in "Useful Companies". You never know. There is one lady in Japan that could be very useful. Please let us know how you get on.

Hi and thanks for your replies. The part on my diagram is the bushe for the cross relay assembly. It's onto a ball joint but is more like a bushe than boot. Off the relay or drag rod you've got the tie rods to wheel and the pick up off the steering wheel. It's the bushe fir the right hand drivers side fixed stud ball joint. I'm off to chase your suggestions down as any lead has to be followed to the end. Part of the fun maybe but I'd sure love to finish!

I have spoken to Will - seems like a very nice chap - gave me a few pointers and I'll now follow those up the main question I have is how long centre to centre is a nissan c120 van drop link cross bar (the one with two ball joints and two female receivers?
What fun.

A days research has shown that centre rods or centre link cross rods of the same era have the Bushe - still no part number on the odd little bushe but I am now looking for ANY nissan original (new) centre link cross rod /drag rod centre or relay assembly (called different thinks by different sites. Looking a bit unlikely I can get the bushe on its own so now considering buying the whole bar for any period correct and stripping the part - ouch - I need to find an outlet selling nissan original rods.

It's not like a '92 Vanette is an unusual or particularly old vehicle. It sold in large numbers (Nigel? - our historian, if you're reading this...)so why the difficulty? Stick with it and I'm sure you'll get there.

If anyone finds stock on these please shout - I'm off to surf the web. Lead came via a suggestion from Datman who suggested a search in one area I had missed.

Oh dear, The seller has now crushed my happy mood by advising that they don't after all have them in stock. I can't believe my whole build is so critically tied to the stupid dust cover - listed as 48587-21001 then other side 48577 13200
he's going to keep looking but advised I should start a plan B...........................................

so a little good news 2 of the 21001 part are now on their way, got these after reading a note on the datman site which explained how japanese cars sometimes have different no's . anyhow a lady in japan listed a part for a bluebird, I wrote to her asking for my part and she found it , bit pricey at £19.00 per item but hey its finally on its way (with a spare just in case). Now I'm after the other side part number 48577 13200. Thanks for the links above sadly no joy. I think its down to the fact that vanettes just don't have the following of the datsuns. I started mine to distract from a nasty diagnosis and 4 years later doing the work is hard now but tbh I can just see the light and have enjoyed the ease of nissan construction. I have had some success after your members made suggestions and I am now optimistic that with time the elusive 48577 13200 will be found!
if not I found J coker in faversham who have advised they can make a mould and make me some, not huge cost but the machining cost is pretty up there for a 6 pound bushe,

21001 has arrived. Goodness how crushed was the old one! I now have a spare as well. I am now looking at a site in Germany. The min order is 100 euros so I'm now looking at all rubbers to bulk an order. They then check stock and advise they can get the part or not. I also begged Nissan uk to re list the part enabling Europe wide searches after being told by customer services that if the re list the part sometimes they turn up. Has anyone seen this work. I asked a week back but as yet no feedback.
