So bought an engine, picked it up at The Gathering, then it went off with Rob from RNJ motorsport ... now just need to get gear box, axle and flywheel sorted I'll get some pictures online again at some point... Looking forward to seeing this one come together... first TS look one in the UK?

so iv not updated this in a while. decided the sr20 was going to cost too much money to do so sold the s14 and was preparing to sell the shell. i then got offered a cheap 1.8 mazda mx5 so the fun has started all over again even more fabrication work than the sr20 but alot less money at stake. i shall hopefully have some pictures to show at the weekend when the engine should be bolted in !

it's a nice engine and box. only real issue is the alloy rear drop sump...

ye i started adding bits up for the sr20 and it got abit scary..... the mx5 lump is actually harder to put in but after abit of headscratching and alot of cutting and welding the subframe was modded. im on with custom mounts at the minute using land rover v8 items. next major think is converting it to steering rack infront of the engine....... bmw e30 manual rack maybe ? who no's haha

if you fit a front mounted rack your going to need to convert the struts to front mounted as well....
if you do that, you might as well fit E30 struts along with the whole front crossmember...?
not sure why the SR would be more pricey, gotta do the same conversion work to the fuel system along with all the other upgrades and the SR would fit better.

ye im thinking it may be possible to just spin the datsun hubs for now untill i find something that will mount to the front arms. the e30 steering rack mounts to the subframe so just some brackets to weld on. im sure ill work it all out somehow haha

you can't just turn the steering arms around. it'll throw out the ackerman angle and will give some horrible tyre wear and loss grip in corners.

here's a simple pic of how the stub axle axis, steering arm and rear axle should be aligned you might get away with keeping the steering arm on the same side and turning it 180degree. they would be able to do that as they bolt to the bottom of the strut via two bolts. might work out quite well actually
