been fitting an a14 today that has an oval port intake manifold that sits on its own. Im using my a12 exhaust manifold that bolts to the standard a12 intake, when they parted there was a butterfly valve under the intake in the exhaust manifold, what does it do? Im guessing its some sort of heat recycling device??? I burned it out an bolted a plate over it so its gone now but just asking out of curiosity...

it's ment to keep the inlet manifold warm. stops the carb/manifold icing up, as that's not good and can cause the throttle to stick open..... had that issue on my turbo converted VW also ment to help attomise the fuel better, giving better economy. the a14 inlet should have had provision to bolt to it? or is it water heated?

i see, so im guessing at high revs the pressure pushes it shut? Its a h95 intake, water fed, need to work out what to do with that...

not sure just how the flap part of it works it has an external weight as well doesn't it? anyways. yes, you need to conect up the water heated part. just run one of the heater pipes to and from it. post up a pic, might be easier to see what pipes to use.
