I have I finished doing the rear underside of the car, will do the front half when I get more time to alter the gearbox member and a few other alterations I want to make. I'm doing the leafsprings and the. rest of the bits in the morning ,I've taken the springs apart and cleaned ready for spraying. the top leaf was flipped and reset in japan ,but the bottom leaf looks like it should be the other way round?

nice job.
like you said. the current top spring, is actually just the second spring turned upside down and placed on top.
the bottom spring is just an overload spring. almost all old leaf sprung pickup trucks and estate cars will have them. they only come into use when the back end is heavily loaded. hence why it won't contact the rest of the pack in normal use. so it looks right to me.

The axle and suspension is back on the car now. Had a new exhaust system made , to get more ground clearance and to make it a bit quieter . I had ask a few local gearbox places to rebuild the diff ,but they weren't interested in anything this old and rare. So I'm going to try and source the parts and do it myself .The only markings on it are C4D3 ? It mite be a 2-way diff The oil that came out of the diff was really thick, i thought from not being changed for a long time. I have put some 75-90 gl5 semi synthetic in it ,but it is a lot noisier now. I mite put the old oil back in till I can get it rebuilt ?

it will need an additive in it, as it's got a plate LSD.

The underside is looking brilliant mate. What did you use to cover and protect it and how was it applied?

This car is really solid with just a bit of surfiace rust starting to appear,so I thought I'd get on top of it before it got hold. I used a wire wheel to get rid of any loose bits and the surface rust. I then brushed on some kurust and then sprayed on two coats of black gravitex plus stonechip using an Apollo Bambi spray gun ,a schults gun would be easier but I don't have a compresser. The gravitex is a Matt finish so I sprayed two more coats of satin black acrylic car paint Time will tell if it is effective.
