Eventually I'd like to be able to add a bit more hard information in these sections, but for now I'll just put up the odd photo/scan and relate my thoughts. I'm kicking off with the C130 Laurel as it's a personal favourite of mine. I think the styling of the saloons in particular, especially with the later grille, is just perfect. Luckily I've owned a couple, number one: 1976 Datsun Laurel 200L (C130) by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr I picked this one up in Leicester after the chap was selling it and a C230. He wanted to get £600 for the pair, presumably he sold the later one for reasonable money (or got desperate) as he rang me up a week or two after I'd viewed it and offered it to me for £200 :-) It had GRP front wings, but importantly was a straight-six model and manual and despite some oddities like a push-button starter drove nicely and I had an enjoyable summer out of it. Had to get it through an MoT, but again being a 'six' and a manual it drove nicely. It was my daily driver when I had the 240K as my 'proper' classic so was used throughout winter, which might explain some of the work Funky200L is now having to do to it... Earlier versions of the C130 had a 4-cyl G20 engine, an OHC unit unrelated to the more common L-series. They also had a different, less aggressive grille and skinnier wheels on really early models. My ex-Datsun UK figures suggest 4728 saloons were sold here with the L20A 'six' engine, and 2118 with the G20S 'four'. Real rarity of the range was the coupe, only officially sold here with the twin-carb G20 engine. A mere 303 made it to the UK, plus one with the L20A 'six'. There are only two known UK survivors, both of which lived in Suffolk 15-odd years ago within a few miles of each other by remarkable coincidence. Luckily they didn't accept his low offer! It had been off the road for some years when I saw it but was in pretty reasonable condition. Eventually Ratdat's friend Dave bought it, but I don't think anything much has happened to it since (I can only hope it's still in safe, dry storage somewhere).

last time i saw it it was covered in bird poo... having seen and having dealt with the paint and rust problems caused by the stuff i know what a pain it is.

Tricky to work out the others, but it seems to be a Datsun forecourt.

the facelift sedans are just lovely... it does seam a little strange to me that Nissan didn't sell the C110 240K 2 door over here instead of the Laurel coupe i do like the coupe, but agree that it really would look good with a facelift sedan front grill. if i get the chance i'm build one ;D

I think its a popular mod over in Japan to convert the coupe to the sedan front end .... I agree that the sedan front end is the better looking of the two, not that the coupe is bad, just not as good looking. In terms of the cars in general i know alot of folk prefer the coupe but the sedan is the better looking imo ... i just love the way the back end is shaped and the long narrow tail lights look fantastic.
